In terms of impact on FS2004..... It is Ultimate Terrain and nothing comes close.Secondly, I'd suggest ActiveSky and then thirdly, aircraft such as PMDG/LVLD etc.

There are a lot of choices for aircraft but certainly, amongst airliners, the PMDG 737, 747 and MD-11 are up there with the best and also the Level D 767 (how could I forget it!), Dreamfleet 727 and CS 757 (shame about product support) and, for general aviation aircraft, I tend to fall back most frequently on most of the Carenado offerings, the Eaglesoft bizjets and the Aeroworx King Air. In the area of scenery, I am amazed that no one has mentioned France VFR, who are way out in front of everyone else for fs9 in terms of regional scenery (and with incredible frame rates!) but for airports there are quite a few developers now who are offering great quality products but especially Fly Tampa, FS Dream Team and UK Extreme. In terms of generic products which provide a measurable improvement to the fs9 experience, I would agree that REX and Ultimate Terrain are the ones to go for!BillWindows XP Pro SP2; Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 3.0Ghz CPU; Arctic Cool 7Pro; ASUS P5N-E-SLI Motherboard; 4GB Corsair 800Mhz DDR2 RAM; 768MB nVidia GeForce 8800GTX Dual VGA Graphics card; 2x 500GB SATA 7200RPM Hard Drive; 650W (2 x 12V) PSU; 2 x 1000GB + 1 x 150GB Western Digital External Hard Drive; CH Pro Yoke and PedalsPowering 280GB of fs9!

I had the 100 best freeware FS2004 ever, and it got to about 200!!!!!100 Best Ever Freeware DownloadsOf a few of the absolute best ones is The Netherlands, Ifly 747-400 and the L-1011 Tristar (of which I am still looking for a VC panel for it-is one available?).A Cathay Pacific FO who flew C130s for the RAAF and the 777 for CPA, also flew the Tristar, of which he said was a truly majestic airplane.

FSUIPC without a doubt, without that Im wouldnt have been able to build my home cockpit at the cheap price that i Did.

My trusty FS Navigator and LAGO FSSE/FSE scenery enhancer.......no longer available!... :( ....!Paul...G-BPLF..FS 2004...FS Navigator... :( ...!

FSUIPC of course

Huh? You make a thread, asking what we think is the best FS addon, and then you return several days later saying you think FSUIPC is the best? So what's the point of this thread then... I assumed you wanted recommendations, but you already seem to have an opinion, so why bother asking us? And even if you were just curious, why not say you like FSUIPC best in the opening post?

Whatever allows me to connect to VATSIM, IVAO, etc. ;)One my personal favorites, on top of the assorted payware already listed, is the SGA DC-9 with Stellan Hilmerby panel and a custom sound set. One of the best freeware combinations I think out there.

Check out my repaints and downloads, all right here on AVSIM

The soundsets from HJG make up the best compliments of all! Dave.

FSNav beyond a doubt! No other add-on offers so many features for flight planning and execution. The flight planner in FS9 is very primitive and doesn't permit changing fixes and other items once the plan is loaded; estimated altitude on descent; multiplayer visual ... effectively a TCAS; so many others. Of course, FSIUPC is the key.

This is truly an impossible question at this point when you factor in both payware and freeware. There's so much outstanding stuff out there... What changed FS9 for me or should I say took it to another level was:1. REX for FS92. Bloom3. Flight1's Ground Environment4. Zinertek's WaterEverything else on top of FS9 is just icing on the cake and too many to mention after all the years FS9 has been on the market.
'Bloom' in FS9 Les? Explain please?

The ENB Series Bloom plug-in is a small file which you can add into FS9 (and many other games I think, it was originally made for GTA: San Andreas I think) and upon activation it will give you bloom without a significant (if any) frame rate hit. Try it! It's nice.

It is indeed nice, I use it almost permanently, but there's a definite performance hit! Not always very much but there's no way it runs without affecting fps! On the plus side, if things get a little slow on final approach, you can just kill the bloom effect with a keyboard shortcut so all is well.As for my favourite FS2004 addon, it must be the unmentionable B744.
