November 30, 201015 yr This is awfully saddening. My first freeware aircraft were from POSKY back when I was flying VFRs from John F. Kennedy to Newark with their 767 and their 747 as well as their A340.I do have to say though, the installation of some of their aircraft are really confusing (the A330, 777, and their Embraers), but well worth it in the end...even though I've only successfully installed the 777 once in FS9, only to have to reformat a few months later. I could never get it working again. Reading through this thread, I'm glad I'm not the only who found their installation instructions were convoluted. I'm also surprised to see that I wasn't the only one that thought their forums were unpleasant. I've browsed through their forums looking for more clarification on the installation of the 777, only to see posts that saying how straightforward and clear the instructions were...yeah, ok. Jon E.
November 30, 201015 yr Its not sad to see Posky fall apart after 10 years if the admin on Posky had treated new people to the website with more respect and stopped the discrimination against people with disabilities and most certainly the website would have been better. And the constant liers who say that posky was freewear then how come certain members of the admin were selling posky textures including aircraft and also demanding donations.Their attitude is not what young children need to hear or let alone being insulted because they have disabilities and are unable to do repaints. There are members of posky admin group who are their just to use abuse and constant insults and when they know their in the wrong they block people using the website. They even blocked people from their website because the person would not accept their demands for money. Which POSKY administrators SOLD textures/models or demanded money? Names or its BS.Members on the Project OpenSky forum must be at least 13 years of age to join. Thirteen is not a young child. Which members on Project OpenSky had disabilities? Names or its BS.Which member was banned from the forum for not donating? Names or its BS.I would like names of the offenders and offending parties. Since you appear to know the history and personal health of each and every member on the site, this shouldn't be too hard of a task for you. If not, I request a retraction of your remarks, and or a moderator to delete your post. Speaking of the moderators; Why is it that posts such as the one made by "angelone" (a new member under mod preview) are approved despite baseless claims of discrimination and extortion, meanwhile a post by Sarah Spencer whom is also a new member, which politely outlined the reasons for the breakup of POSKY was not shown to the public? Are we to believe that POSKY bashing is welcomed on this site now? Or that the truth straight from a RELIABLE source is worth less than a pack of lies from someone who could write for the national enquirer? We would really like to know why a new member who accuses us of criminal activity has his posts approved, while an actual POSKY admin is not allowed to speak for herself and clear up some of the myths. We all saw her post, by the way, and there was nothing objectionable in it, it just wouldn't give rise to these sensational and highly fictionalized stories some of your members seem to enjoy writing.
November 30, 201015 yr Commercial Member While I can't speak regarding 'angelone' Mr. Gossett...The tone of your post here is the exact same tone I saw far too often in the POSKY forums. Years back, before I started doing commerical work... I wanted to do a gauge set for a POSKY 767. I intended for it to include an FMS, all freeware. I remember seeing people asking questions or bringing up issues in the POSKY forums and being virtually blasted by POSKY members at the time. It left a very, very bad impression for me and I've never looked at POSKY since. Instead I decided to go commercial with my skillset. In these forums, if someone says something regarding yourself or POSKY, the proper approach is to use the forum's reporting process and let moderators know there's a problem. The improper approach is to toss wild accusations to counter and claim conspiracy theories that aren't even evident. Ed Wilson Mindstar AviationMy Playland - I69

November 30, 201015 yr Names or its BS seems a reasonable reply to angelone's post.As Voltaire joked satirically "This animal is dangerous: when attacked it defends itself" Gerry Howard

I've been bashed from those guys ever since I simply asked them something about FSX. What's sad about them though, is that the POSKY 787 will never see the light of day unless the new group is willing to continue their services. Dave. November 30, 201015 yr And even with the release of FSX they won't upgrade. I think that's their choice, Dave. If they're FS9 users, it's to be expected they're not too keen to develop for and support FSX. Bottom line is, you've not had to pay a dime for POSKY's planes, so I'm not quite sure you're gonna get far with "they didn't do what I wanted them to do" as a cornerstone of your argument.Yes, some of the POSKY members frequently posting on the public forums were rather unpleasant, but that's not reason to dismiss the team's concerted efforts as some of you have been doing here.Edit—and in case you weren't aware, Hiroshi exported the 737, 747 and 777 for FSX. You can still get them here: http://www.projectopensky.com/index.php?app=downloads

November 30, 201015 yr There's no need to be sad because the community will continue to see freeware releases from many of the POSKY developers. There are also many other developers from other groups as well (but I believe the numbers are dwindling due to the uncertainty in FS platform after FSX). The only difference is the freeware aircraft releases will be under a different group name. There is no need to be concerned about the 787 because it will be released one day. My only regret is that the group came to an abrupt end when we were in the midst of planning for 2 major releases (one of which were the 767, the other not yet announced) for the 10th anniversary.Certainly the group has done extremely well to make it to the 10 year mark - POSKY has outlived groups such as Project Freeware, FFG, PSS, IFDG, Meljet etc. - all of which had enormous contribution to the FS community at their peak. In terms of overall downloads I wouldn't be at all surprised if POSKY have easily surpassed 1 million downloads worldwide throughout the 10 years. Throughout the 10 years we have released the following aircraft spanning FS2000 to FS2004 (and FSX):- 4 versions of Boeing 747 (the latest included the entire family of 747s)- 5 versions of Boeing 767 (the latest to be released soon)- Boeing 757-200/300- the entire Boeing 737NG series (including military versions)- 2 versions of the Boeing 777- 2 versions of Bombarider CRJ900s- CRJ700 and CRJ200- Embraer ERJ135-145 series- 2 versions of A330s- A340-200/300- C-17In terms of the portfolio of work I think this will be not be matched anytime soon and the group sincerely values the contribution and help of AVSIM and Flightsim.com for hosting our files in their file libaries so that the community can enjoy these releases. As a member of the group, my personal opinion is that I agree with some of the negative feedback from posters here and what I perceive as attitude problems or abuse of forum members. For this reason some posky team members had elected to stay away from the public forum to focus solely on development. Although the public needs to understand that the perceived 'heavy-handed' approach are sometimes due to forum participants not understanding the rules or abusing the forum system. Secondly the public are generally not aware that posky in its time have faced constant attacks and violations that we face - by people who chooses to abuse the terms and conditions of freeware (by releasing them as payware or selling these on ebay etc.) or try to attack the server by hacking etc. (which occurred on numerous occasions). As others have mentioned Angelone's post is factually incorrect, in particular his comment on donations is misleading and ill-informed.I disagree with the view that POSKY members are all rude. This is a poor generalisation and I would say half of the members are genuinely polite and courteous people e.g. Hiroshi is one good example. It would be a shame to view the entire group as rude and arrogant people.Lastly, as some of you have also mentioned, I discovered the FS community when I downloaded my first FS freeware aircraft - the POSKY 767 and 747v1 back in 2000. It was POSKY that brought me into this hobby and also into painting aircraft. Cheers, Dickson Chan

If something is questionable the admins will decide if it should be removed only after the fact.A lot of people here (including myself) have shown an appreciation for POSKY and the impressive FS freeware they have produced over the years, and also a sadness at their split - Why not recognise that fact before starting your very own bash against AVSIM. You're not going to win any friends with that attitude.........I have not seen the post to which you refer to but I am sure the Forum admins must have had a valid reason for removing it. Also they have not deleted your post, which surely means AVSIM is not 'welcoming POSKY bashing'.Any type of bashing generally isn't welcome here - the forum admins usually do a very good job of ensuring that, and it is a tough job which can be a difficult balancing act that sometimes results in receiving abuse from all sides for trying to do the right thing.POSKY members would always be welcome at AVSIM, provided they follow the rules of conduct here just like all other members. There's no need to be sad because the community will continue to see freeware releases from many of the POSKY developers. Angelone's post remains because it gives everyone a chance to question it. Moderators can not possibly decipher fact from fiction in every single post in every single thread in every single forum here at AVSIM. So instead, we will let posts like that stick around so that others can question, confirm or deny, or approve/disapprove of the comments. It's just like when people make a comment about a certain payware item, and then the developer gets upset with us because the post is inaccurate. I don't own every single payware product on the market, and there are times that I simply won't know if someone is being honest or not. As for the hidden post, I have no idea why it was hidden because I was not around this weekend do to being busy with that pesky little thing called life. However, if it was hidden by Geof or David, than you can bet the bank that there was a very good reason. It might have been because we don't like internal dirty laundry aired here. The last time we let two former "co-workers" battle it out in the forums we were threatened with lawsuits. Jeremy "rightseater" Fletcher

As a father of three (only one son) and grandfather of five (the 5th as of 6:05 am yesterday), who has never suffered the loss of any of them, I can not even imagine the pain you are in. It must be excruciating...I pray that you will forgive those who mistreated and said all manner of insults against your precious son because I am sure they, like all of us from time to time, did not really know just what they were doing. You have my thoughts and prayers. Be at peace when you can find it once again brother.Kind regards,
