PMDG 737NG Base Pack....what?

Featured Replies

I think their pricing is very reasonable. No MORE than very reasonable. I was shocked to see 70 bux for the first release to tell you the truth. And please lets not compare the ifly and pmdg pricing. You just cant do that fairly. A bunch are saying "well you get he whole variant set with ifly". Sure but you dont even get realistic fuel flows! Ifly is a good product. But its a 55 dollar product. Thats all I am gonna say about that.I am not sure why people care so much if its a 700 or 800 series. Personally the 800 flies a lot better IRL. Who cares if your VA doesnt fly the 800. Really? Do you really think it matters? It funny how some people may try and simulate everything to the real life counterpart but on the other hand will probably not really learn how to fly an addon. All I can say is if there are ppl that arent going to buy it because its the 800/900 series at first, then you are severely depriving yourself from a "real as it gets" experience. The people that do buy the product will probably be shaking their head too after they experience this NGX realizing that its silly not to want to have this addon. Trust me. Its frikkin awesome!

Some people that spend $70-$100 on an add-on hope to be able to simulate some of their favorite real-world route/s with the actual airplane that operates on said routes. If the route/s I hope to simulate do not use the -800/-900 at all than what is the point of buying it? Seems like common sense to me. lolFor those of us that do learn to fly the add-ons we purchase correctly, we may also want to fly the aircraft on their proper routes. I honestly don't see why anybody would pay this much for an add-on if they don't plan to use it how it used in the real-world (just my opinion). If it is designed to simulate a real world aircraft, why not use it for it's intended flying duties?

Well the good news is that you don't have to purchase the PMDG NGX. You can get the iFly 737 and you are good to go. The wonders of the free market at work for you.

Never said I had to purchase anything.I already own the iFly offering. If I didn't, purchasing the PMDG product would be easier to justify.

I thought it was "hold my beer and watch this". No wait, those are the most common redneck last words. :(

While I definitely appreciate the work PMDG has put into the 737, releasing the 800/900 first with the -700 as an expansion is a little silly. Obviously this is a business decision since most people want a 737-700 (more mainstream than the -800/-900, at least here in the U.S.) and this will require people to buy both. I can understand the reasoning in trying to get as much revenue as possible, PMDG is a business, but for those of us with not much interest in the -800/-900 series this product loses some of it's value. Basically, in order to fly the -700 series I am required to buy the -800/-900 first, which in turn bumps the price from $70 to almost $100. I wouldn't mind seeing a Base Pack -700 series so I don't have to buy the -800/-900. As it stands now, it looks like I will have to spend close to $100 to fly the -700. Err.......lol*EDIT* Not sure why my title has "...what?" in it. I think I was typing an email and accidentally had this page activated. Oops!
Not sure why you think the 700 is that much more mainstream then the 800/900 in the US? Of the Major US carriers there are 479 737-700's in operation among the major carriers 364 of that is just Southwest Airlines. While there are 415 737-800's, and 58 737-900's Take away Southwest, and there would be only 115 700's. I would say The US is fairly represented just fine with the base package.(Source airfleets.net)737-700Southwest 364AirTran 52Alaska 17Continental/UNITED 36Delta 10Total 479737-800Alaska 58American 155Continental/United 129Delta 73Total 415 737-900Alaska 12Continental/United 46Total 58

I think the price is good /cheap/value.I own the ifly737 and I think it is good but you can't really begin to compare the ifly with the pmdg (unless you're drunk ).Two different things..apples and oranges. It's just like looking at camilla parker bowles and a. jolie. They are both human but that is it.I seriously do not understand those who insist on comparing the 2 planes. My 0.2

Good value IMO. Expensive yes, but so are all other premium things in life. Either you want exclusive or you want cheap. Your choice.

Just to round out the North American List I have added the Canadian and Mexican airlines to the list above.

Kind of tough to compare the two planes when one hasn't been released yet. Only then can you get a fair comparison.

Thus say the wealthy whom believe they deserve to keep their tax break loopholes :) Price is absolutly rediculous for the common working man. I guess the hobby is leaning towards the privlidged few. No the PMDG a really excited user will not complain one bit.I was holding out on purchasing a FSX 737. I have made up my mind. Taking in a cost/benefit factor,,,, Over to Flight One I go!
Few weeks of savings and you have her if you're really on a tight financial spending. What's the big deal? For the amount of work that went into this thing, a groundbreaking release for 70 bones is not really a lot of money. I rarely ever spend more than $45 on an add-on but this aircraft will be well worth the money. I'm not trying to make you buy anything, just voicing my opinion.

What should the price be for the common working man?Movie and diner for 2 equals about this.Round of golf and a few drinks equals this.Try renting a real plane for an hour and see what you think then!

I don't think the price is unreasonable. There was no way that PMDG was going to release the 700/800 variants together. My guess is that those are going to make up the bulk of their sales. I really thought that the "base pack" or however they decided to market it would be in the $80 range, so I was kind of surprised. Competition is a good thing. I'm one of those "blue collar" work for a living guys too.
