Certainly is, sad thing is I remember those versions of FS quite well!Out of interest how are you finding the frame rates (thinking of comparison with the Mustang or ES CX)...?G

not sad, my friend - but rather, like a lot of life's experiences - one's we should be grateful for and remember dearly.

The amazing thing is that when we were playing Flight Simulator all those years ago, we could not have imagined back then that we would someday experience the level of depth, complexity, realism, and graphical prowess that we enjoy today in FSX and it's add-ons, and other flight sims (IL-2 1946, for example). My first flight sim was Sublogic's FS2, and I was totally blown away by it. A funny thing is that the system I use now is much less expensive than the clunky computer I used to run FS2 back in the 1990s, and that's not even adjusting for inflation! Imagine the reaction if we suddenly had something like today's FSX back then, with a suitable system to run it on... ...Oh, yeah, and downloading all the add-ons via Compuserve, and a shoebox sized, blisteringly fast 19k (that's 19 kilobytes for you youngsters) modem.

I remember it, i had it, what a Sim it was. Wow....Peace.gif

I've still got many of the old versions sitting in my storage room. It would be kind of fun if I could find hardware that could run it and jump back in time.

bet you would exit out in less than 10 mins ..... those old versions are awful by todays standards.

I'm gonna burst the bubble here a little bit. When you consider its been 20 years between the first and 2nd screen , the progress is nice, but short of amazing. The recent progression has slowed, between FS3, and FS2004 we averaged about 2 years between releases. We went 3 years between FS9, and FSX, and it looks to be at least 6 years between FSX, and MS Flight. We are definitely behind the progress curve , and in catchup mode regarding FS. Imagine what FS would have been like today, had they been able to maintain the early rate of progress. Regards.Ernie.
