September 30, 201114 yr If it were 10 years or even 5 years ago, I would have wonder whether it would have had this necessary to have this vote. Regards Yufeng Faster than the sun, higher than the heaven. Concorde, thanks for your supersonic years...
September 30, 201114 yr Author I sort of agree with Ernie here. the option that I would have chosen simply is not present. I'm a VC flyer but I like having 2D panels for some functions. For example, on the PMDG 747 I find it hard to get to some buttons on the VC, so I like having a 2D panel for that. I probably could use the "A" button to switch to a position that shows all of the overhead, but I'd rather just have a 2D panel that doesn't require me to cycle through a multitude of views just to see what I have to see and then cycle through an other multitude of views just to get back. Sadly, this option of "I use a combination of both" isn't available in the poll, and option C is not an option for me, because I do not think that the 2D panel is completely irrelevant: I prefer the VC, but do want some 2D panels for specific functions. Having no 2D panel is not a show stopper, however, but I like their presence just for when I might need them. Isn't this a valid option also? Having to choose both A and C, as you seemingly suggest, just doesn't work, because it doesn't differentiate at all between users. It makes the poll flawed, as Ernie says, because various groups that are different are combined. Your option is a clear B. This sentence reveals it: "I'm a VC flyer but I like having 2D panels for some functions."Also: "...but I'd rather just have a 2D panel that..." I'm at loss how this can be such a difficult thing to grasp. What you describe in this paragraph is exactly what Option B is meant for: "Sadly, this option of "I use a combination of both" isn't available in the poll, and option C is not an option for me, because I do not think that the 2D panel is completely irrelevant: I prefer the VC, but do want some 2D panels for specific functions. Having no 2D panel is not a show stopper, however, but I like their presence just for when I might need them. Isn't this a valid option also?" For option "B." it doesn't matter if your preference is VC, you can still tick it, if you want to have 2D functionality for any of the stuff. Even if you mainly flew in VC, and preferred VC otherwise. If you are a VC pilot who wants to use 2D "in the mix", then you can vote B. Like said, it doesn't make a difference what the preference in the middle-ground is. What makes the difference, is if you want the 2D to continue as a present mix-user or not. The outer edges of "2D only" and "VC only" are options A and C. Tero PPL(A)
September 30, 201114 yr You can vote "B." even if you flew 2D+VC in any combination whatsoever,Even though you have repeatedly said this, that is not how question B reads. I alreadyexplained to you how it effectively reads, but you claim I 'misworded' it.I did not, we've already had 6 posters in this thread state they donot see a choice that is applicable for them in this poll, to validate what I've told you.But Ok fine, were beating a dead horse here, its your poll and you have a right to conduct it how you see fit.I'd prefer not to step on your current poll...But since you are clearly adament about excluding this important choice.Lets wait a couple of days, for you to get your results from this poll, then lets create anotherpoll that does include this important choice of 'both'. Because its clear many would be interested in how many have that additional preference.Problem solved.Regards.Ernie.
September 30, 201114 yr Author I would have added options there now, but the poll is "closed". Can't change a thing, it seems. I've had my peek of what people want, and it's totally fine by me, if mods even go ahead and delete this altogether. You can start a new poll, which I will follow with interest too. No reason why it can't be equally (or more) informative. I just wanted to see the situation with my own parameters. Tero PPL(A)
September 30, 201114 yr Also, you should make a poll in the FS9 forums - I'd guess more FS9ers use 2D still. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
September 30, 201114 yr Well it was pretty clear to me VC or 2D! I use VC only (with the occasional 2D pop-up). I won't download or buy a 2D only addon.

September 30, 201114 yr I fly from the VC but still utilize a very select few pop-up windows, from time to time, depending on the aircraft. Alexander Alonso
October 1, 201114 yr I use VC as primary and only rely on 2D and pop-ups for gauges and switches that are not well readable. I would not say 2D is irrelevant though. Keith Guillory
October 3, 201114 yr I am a cockpit builder with multi-monitors, and absolutely require 2D gauges. I don't need the 2d cockpit bitmaps or photo realistic background, just the 2d gauges themselves. I would not buy an aircraft if it didn't include 2d panels that I could use with Flight Sim Panel Studio to make my own 2d panels. I would buy a complex VC only aircraft, if the 2d gauges were available to purchase as a separate add on. I use the VC view zoomed out to only include the window frame in the upper monitors for the scenery views. Bill
October 4, 201114 yr ......I used to have the Track IR, but I abandoned it long time ago, the reason is simple, I don't want to put a hat on my head, It's just a personal preferences, I don't feel comfortable with something on my head, because my hair is so soft. I haven't try the new track chip for the similar reason. Just out of interest, why would having soft hair put you off using TrackIR, or wearing a hat? Also, the version of TIR available for the last 4-5 years, uses a device that clips to headphones / a headset, so not the old 'hat' approach. One does of course look a bit silly when geared up for using TrackIR, but it's a price I'm very happy to pay, for the benefits & enjoyment TIR provides. P.S. I use a L'Oreal shampoo and conditioner to keep my hair soft. Because I'm worth it. October 5, 201114 yr I don't really consider the use of pop up panels with the VC as using 2D panels. To me, using a 2D panel means you use the 2D version for your primary (Left seat) view.
