Still running first version......anyone else?

Featured Replies

I am still running the version that was released on day one. I have had 5 issues over 150 hrs, all of which were caused by me switching views too much. Is anyone else still running the original installer? If so, have you had any issues? To date, I have never had as much (trouble free) flying time with a PMDG product. The J41 and 744 fail on me with swiss precision. But the NGX is one of the most solid and reliable planes in my fleet. I am a little nervous updating to any of the HF's or even the pending SP1. Why fix what aint broke eh? Thoughts? Cheers.

You cannot rule out a panel freeze. You may not have experienced one yet, but you will get one. They are random, and like earthquakes, can happen at anytime. Hotfix 4 beta seems to have adressed that for most.

It is fantastic that you are having no problems but it's also worth bearing in mind that without the SP1you will have have over 100 known faults that were in the initial release.

Yeah - I bought and downloaded on release day - and have not installed any of the hotfixes. Look, sometimes it freezes - but most flights I dont seem to have an issue - So i am going to wait for the SP. I assume you dont need any hotfixes as the SP will just overwrite the files anyway. Regards

Yeah ! Me too is still running the RTM Version.Never have had any problems, freezes or something else.Don't know how many hours I already have flown with this plane, but it has been a lot !Just have had only once a Lot of problems, and that was, As I thought I should install HF 3. Bad idea ! After that, I got a lot of problems. Thanks God I did a backup before the install, so I could easily role back to the RTM install. After this experience, I will wait for comments on SP1 and its behavior before trying to install it.

Same here, over 250 flights since release without problems. I am already thinking about to refuse the SP1. Regards

I am running the vanilla with no crashes since weeks. Even if I flawn her few times only due to other games. Of course I want to play her extensively soon. BTW, which are the 3 worst issues among the 100 you mentioned ? For example, even if I am super beginner, I can't seem to catch the glide, never. I approach it just at the right altitude and when I press the APP botton nothing happens. Also the APP botton sometimes does not illuminate itself. Is this perhaps a bug of the first release ? Thanks in advance

No it isn't.I can't confirm any reportet issue here in forum (autobreak, barometer setting, panel freeze, autopilot, ...) For approach you have to tune also F/O side. Regards

Downloaded the first version on 5 August and still working perfectly. I've had exactly one OOM due to combining NGX with Aerosoft Heathrow on my puny 2 gb ram and that's it. Win XP 32 running on E8400 / 2 GB ram / ATI 4650 512mb Will try SP1 when available though.

Yes.I too am runing the original version and have no problems that would cause me to risk an update atthe cost of screwing up perfection. I have not had a crash, I get outstanding FPS's and flew this 737 all over the world so far. It is not my favorite plane though. I like flying the heavies, but I can say I got this plane down pretty good. I'll fly a Level D full motion 737-800W NGX simulator next month and will compare the 2.

Thanks for the answer and sorry for the slight OT. Yes my second F/O is activated as well. I have flown several planes in the past, the last one it was 767 Level D so I am a real beginner of 737 but not of the jet flight in general, anyway I commit or miss something somewhere but other than catching the glide from a bit below the perfect enter I dunno what's my mystake. Anyway I 'll keep on training. BTW I read the manuals few times and I can do everything pretty much in a correct way, only the basic I miss ,the glide is my number one enemy when it should be my first friend instead :)

Running vanilla version all the way. No problems here.

No bug here - in your FMS (button TO/APPR) - when defining the rwy you are about to approach - chose G/S YES. (you can also do that later using the NAV RAD button on the FMS) Press LOC for catching the localizer and let the plane turn into the approach heading. Wait for the glideslope bug to be active (moving) before pressing APP. For an autoland, use both AP (the one on the F/O side to) and tune both NAV radios on the ILS frequency. Nico A.

I too am running on Vanila with just a few of the little bugs that don't stop me flying. Must say though, i feel a little guilty because if you don't try the HotFixes, then you are not testing them out. Hence no feedback which is required to establish a final SP.

I must have a freak version of 737 :) ... question: is it correct that if I approach a 36 runway from south to north for example and I turn the morse on let's say around 25nm in advance and I can hear it immediately, and it is the correct ID ILS etc.. my plane starts to catch the LOC only when I am very close to the glide ? Of course the LOC button is being pressed by me just after I hear the morse and of course my AoA against the glide is around only 15° or less...
