There appears to have been a small change in the official 'Flight' FAQ...

Featured Replies

Evening all, Whilst my memory isn't perfect, it looks like a small line has been added to the Flight FAQ which has not been there previously. Hopefully it will put a few minds at rest. The Q&A is below, and the 'new' line is highlighted; "Q. How does “Microsoft Flight” differ from “Flight Simulator?” Why the new name? What’s changed? A. With “Microsoft Flight” we’re approaching the virtual flight genre from the ground up, with the focus on the universal appeal of the experience of Flight. We believe the simplicity of “Microsoft Flight” perfectly captures that vision while welcoming the millions of existing Flight Simulator fans. The new “Microsoft Flight” retains the full fidelity simulation longtime fans have come to expect while offering all players a whole new look and feel, a wide range of new game play and challenges, persistent experiences and social connectivity." Of course this might have been there the whole time. If it has, ignore me.... Edit: My apologies, this has already been done. I don't know how I missed it. I looked fairly hard!?

This is ridiculous... why oh why can't MS just stop it with the use of language that is intentionally vague and nonspecific... why? Full Fidelity... really? That's crap language a lawyer places into a contract when he or she wishes to stay as vague as possible, it gives them plenty of wiggle room down the road once major changes must be made... Guys this isn't anything at all... just more of the same, which is basically nothing, a few more pics of Hawaii... some clouds... yay! If they indeed updated the website,,, for this,,, then they could have taken about 30 more seconds and typed out something real, not "retains the full fidelity simulation longtime fans have come to expect"... Good Job MS! rolleyes.gif

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

Yeah it's incredibly vague, I don't understand why either. Maybe someone in management has forbade them to write anything pertaining to the old and evil simulator and they are sneaking it in anyway they can.

How is this any different from the past? From what I've heard, it's normal for them to be very secretive. (except in the case of FSX, but their plans to be open went horribly wrong) If you actually read what they have released, it's not that hard to figure out what they mean. Also, people seem to ignore what they HAVE released, yet they ask for more. Has anyone bothered to check the news page and read the October news update about Missions?! That's information right there.

fi·del·i·ty (fibreve.gif-debreve.giflprime.gifibreve.gif-temacr.gif, fimacr.gif-)n. pl. fi·del·i·ties1. Faithfulness to obligations, duties, or observances.2. Exact correspondence with fact or with a given quality, condition, or event; accuracy.3. The degree to which an electronic system accurately reproduces the sound or image of its input signal. It could be a generation thing....in the 70's it was all about Hi-Fi. cool.png

This sounds very promising to me. It seems you just can't satisfy some people.

Dude, Hi-Fi is where its at man!!! dance.gif
So... instead of releasing it on DVD, they're gonna release it on 8 track tape? ohmy.png

I agree. Call me naive but are Microsoft simply saying, ''Die hard fans, you have nothing to worry about ''.

Retains would cover providing FSX with gaming features added.

Um, what? Full fidelity means full fidelity. That's incredibly specific. How on earth can you consider it vague? Do neither of you know what full fidelity actually means?

When I said it's vague I was referring to the entire FAQ/News section as a whole rather than this one line, which incidentally has only recently been added.
