There appears to have been a small change in the official 'Flight' FAQ...

Alain, are you insisting on this argument again? Hasn't it already been dealt with? Are you so unsure of the forum rules and standards of behaviour that you need to have them clarified at every opportunity. Or, perhaps you see yourself as the champion of justice, not so much the forum police as the DA and judiciary. Surely David made his position clear the other day, get over it! http://forum.avsim.n...ost__p__2135516

Mike, what are you talking about?? I'm referring to this here "I guess Idon't share your and other peoples negative views." and asking why is it that because one (Rimshot) does not agree with somebody's opinion (MarkW) Mark's view become a negative one?

I am not negative regarding Flight at all. I am just cautious in my approach. With FSX I was there the first day and was very disappointed in the performance on my then old machine. No point rushing out to get something that will not run on current hardware and there are lots of people in the community that will buy, test, and comment ad nauseum regarding Flight. Once I have had a chance to read the feedback then I will decide, probably only delay my purchase for a few weeks if its good !!! Mark.

Indeed 'negative' wasn't the right word to use. 'Cautious' is better. I chose the word because in your post, as well in those of many others, a tone prevails that Flight might not be what we want. I myself have a positive attitude towards the upcoming sim. Therefore I'll get it the day it comes out. For many others the glass always seems to be half empty. That is what I call negative, especially if you advice others not to get the sim on the first day. But I do understand what you mean. You should have seen my face the first time I fired up and played FSX. It wasn't a happy face I'll tell you!

What ''we'' want isn't neccesarily the same thing... When I fired up FSX the first time my jaw hit the floor. I thought it was amazing and I never thought a flight sim would look that good having played them for twenty some years. Microsoft were onto something with FSX. The Aces team had a good thing going with the Insider website and updates adresses some of the initial performance issues. Too bad Microsoft terminated the team and stopped development for so many years. Just goes to show what a corporate beast Microsoft is. No heart, no passion, no soul. I'm sure Flight will be better than FSX - every new verion of FS has been a significant improvement over the last. My concern is that Microsoft don't understand how to build a community and loyal fan base. Like most corporations they have management that don't have a clue about what the people on the floor are doing and are completely ignorant of their customers wants and needs. That is why Microsoft always failed in becoming Apple, Youtube, Facebook, Google etc. To become successful in technology you need passion and dedication. Most succesful innovators aren't motivated by stock options, but by a personal dedication and passion for what they are creating.

Apple, Youtube, Facebook, Google etc also failed to brcome Microsoft.

Fact is I don't know and neither does anyone else so that is why I will wait. BTW, I do the same thing with FS Addons, and generally wait for the community to comment before jumping in. This works rather well and saved me from that awful Airsimmer Airbus. I will say though that with trusted developers like Level D & PMDG I do buy upon release. Mark.

I can't believe some of you are so negative, worried and neurotic, on the other hand, I remember the Cessna PPL course told me that a good pilot will always be surprised when he makes it out of an airport without engine failure.

It is 100% normal to get limited information until a piece of software is closer to being completed. What if they announce a bunch of features then find out they can't include them all? People would freak out. Lack of information most likely means that the game is a long way off. There's no reason for them to make promises they can't keep, or build too much hype way before release.

Please, tell me you understand my post....
I was simply making an observation about this statement you made..."bashing a product (in this case Flight)".

What you are seeing is Flight following the same development/PR path of pretty much every other game out there to be released in the past decade. Very few companies give any real solid information until a few months out from release. Now, am I saying that means everything is fine and Flight will be great? No, because I have no idea. But what I do know is this lack of information and vagueness is pretty normal in software development so I wouldn't read too much into it right now. It could mean something or mean nothing. The first is as likely as the last. Microsoft tried the open development thing with FSX. It backfired and the community as a whole abused it. Now they are back to a normal way of releasing information like any other software developer. Patience is all we have now.

Sorry, Alian. I misunderstood you. I hope you weren't too put off by my post. It just goes to show how careful you have to be reading stuff.
