I met WATTR (or something very similar) between Lopez Island and Diamond Point the other day. I guess it is a part of SEA procedures?

I think that whoever named these waypoints liked Science Fiction. One Chicago approach seems to be based off of Star Trek characters. The first waypoint is TREKI, then there are a few more waypoints with the name of characters (I think KIRKE or something was one). I also found a waypoint in Seattle called EYWOK.

Nav Canada, which handles ATC in Canada, renamed several Montreal-area waypoints and procedures after Montreal Canadiens hockey legends. -- Maurice Richard (MORIC), Jean Beliveau (BLIVO), Doug Harvey (ARVIE), Guy Lafleur (LAFLR) and Bob Gainey (GAINY).

I often wondered if it had anything to do with this danish company http://tulip.dk/ , http://www.tulipfoodcompany.com/

"Tulip Food Company dates back to 1887, when a private slaughterhouse was founded in Vejle. That development was part of the move towards industrial food production in Denmark." As it states on their site.

Vejle though Jutland eastcoast is "close"/related to EKBI Billund Airport.

(by the way :Waiting: I am not into promoting slaughterhouses :Pig: - I am vegetarian :Bring It On: )

All the best.

If your name is 5 letters long chances are there's a waypoint somewhere... DARIO in Brazil for example

Fans of the Bard's writing will like the first two, if you prefer your literature a bit more pictorial, then the second two will be more up your street:

Note: for anyone who doesn't get it, Shakespeare of course wrote Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, and two popular children's comics published in the UK are the Dandy and the Beano.

I would love to see consecutive wayoints in UK airspace named BLACK ADDER...

Well if that's the case there's a chance that if there ever is a waypoint directly over Watergate I will see my name used as a waypoint!

It think it has more to do with Holland being famous for tulips, since TULIP is on the border between the London and Amsterdam FIRs.
