You are in error. And Greta? That's the real G1000 sound file. Guess you will have to complain to them.
Sure.So you already got the latest beta of the software and double checked. That was quick. Anyway I only said that it sounds like Greta V.S. We're going off topic .

Son, I know my game, I know the players, I know my product and I know the G1000 like nobodies business. We are not off topic, and you are in error and I would suggest a refund because you do not seem satisfied. That's the great thing about the F1 policy.

Petal,Thanks for the analysis.I think we're off topic because my original post was not about what you think your garmin rendition can do and cannot do and thanks for suggesting a refund.

This bird really grew on me, the FDE is great and feels really true to life, although I've only ever flown the 172S, with a G1000. I was pretty vocal against the price, and I still don't like the look of the VC, but I prefer this over Carenado and the like because of the flight model. Since I bought it I've also upgraded to a fairly decent 2500K/GTX560Ti rig, so I can now run it without stutters in proper VFR scenery settings. It's a Cessna, so it should be flown by looking out the window most of the time, although I guess the 182 is IFR certified? That's the other thing about this bird, just like the Mustang it requires a lot of resources. But as Rhoads said, the F1 lets you try it out for a month. I'd recommend it to anyone with a mid-high range computer and a decent yoke/stick and pedals, because it does feel really really close to the real thing. Especially in combination with some weather addon with a lot of turbulence, you do get that feeling of being kicked around in a light aircraft. As for the G1000 - it's really comprehensive, although the WAAS approaches aren't there in Europe it's an impressive feature. Would like to be able to switch around freely and duplicate the displays though. Perhaps that's omitted because it'd be even more demanding for the computers to run?I don't like the tone of saying "son" to someone without knowing their age though, it sounds a lot like belittlement (if the term is applicable, english is not my 1st language) and isn't really something you'd except to be told by the shop keeper.

My post is very much on topic. If you publicly claim something else has more functionality than another product, you need to be able to back that point up. Also making mention of the Bird S... tells me (and others) you most likely did not read the manual. As the shop keeper, I don't want my product misrepresented by opinion and unfounded claim, so the tone is what it is. Our products are our bread and butter, so you can bet if I see mis-representation, I will call it and if someone continues to ignore my point, I might get thier attention. My shop, my product, you treat me with dignity, you get it double back. if not, you may not.I won't compare Mindstar vs. F1 with respect to the G1000, but anyone that has both and has intently studied both, knows both. And the above comments were made in error.

I have both the Mindstar product (reviewed it for AVSIM) and the Flight1 G1000 as installed in their Citation Mustang (reviewed it for AVSIM) and Cessna 182 in addition to the stand alone Flight1 Tech G1000 trainer. There is no other G1000 product that has the feature set of the Flight1 product, the only way to get more features is a real G1000 linked into the sim (costs too much!). I'm also with Jim on showing respect when in his yard. Seems to be a truly lost art in this country and day in age... respect that is.

I was expecting something like the realair turbine duke but the Vc to me was a let down right away.
What about the VC was a let down? I have been looking at this one for a while but haven't decided to pull the trigger yet.

Hard to put into words exactly, the word "cartoonish" springs to mind. Bit to clean? Not sure what does it, but it's not as pretty as Realair's Duke, and not even close to what A2A's been putting out lately(particularly the spit and the B17). But the rest of it's great. For me it grew on me, now I hardly notice it. It does have that slightly cramped feeling that real Cessnas have, quite immersive. Once you feature in the excellent stick/rudder feel and the well made G1000 (not owning the mindstar I can't really say anything about that one) you don't notice the look of the VC.You really should try it out yourself, I've never had any issues with the F1 purchase system, if you don't like it after a while then you can return it. Excellent stuff.About the courtesy thing - shouldn't true professionals rise above that stuff? I'm just asking.

The first thing you learn when working in retail is that the customer isn't always right. :)MindYerBeak was, as Jim put it, misrepresenting the product. When others attempted to interject, he was rude and disrespectful. Jim has every right to defend his product. As for the language Jim used, there is nothing wrong with it. If more people were actually put in line these days instead of coddled by the politically correct "the customer is always right" mentality we would have a lot fewer problems on forums such as these.MindYerBeak did not read the manual. I think it's obvious that he probably only glanced at the product page. He jumped headfirst into murky water and hit a rock right below the surface, and now he is paying for it. Hopefully next time he doesn't shoot his mouth off without thinking first what he is about to say.

Don't get me wrong, I agree about MindYerBeak jumping the gun, but I still much prefer someone like A2A or PMDG's customer relations techniques (overbearing/ignore/quietly report and discard backstage) over the attitude here. Even when a customer's wrong, isn't there something called "to stoop to their level"?It's the shopkeeper's choice as always. As long as they keep making good products I'll keep shopping, to a certain extent.

I guess what confuses me the most is that there are product screen shots (and they look very good as opposed to some product shots I've seen). Additionally, there's a large thread here and other sites which detail things further. So why buy it in the first place? I admit seeing demo shots is the first thing I look at before I purchase. All in all, there's a thirty day return policy, and to answer the OP's question: No I have not returned it nor have I uninstalled it.

Tore,Right. It is my choice, and it may not be what you would like to see from me, but I prefer not to allow my product misrepresented anymore than you would like someone talking inaccuratly about what you do or who you know.Professionalism works both ways. There seems to be some unwritten law on Avsim that the developer should just shut up and be a good little boy and not contest anything or comment.Well... that just doesn't work for me. We make good quality products, we back them up with the best gaurantee in the business, but I won't be told to sit in a corner and not comment or reserve my comments. It's a two way street. Like I said before and I will repeat... if you treat me (us) with respect (same as you expect from me) you will get it ten fold. You treat me less than that. I will be your huckleberry (Ron knows what I mean) laugh.pngThe 182 is a great product with lots of love, hard work and attention to detail. I am a Commercial pilot first and foremost, and I believe what my team and I do reflects that in most of our products. And you have 30 days to decide if we are right or if I should just sit in the corner. Either way you win.Regards,Jim Rhoads

The topic seems strange and premeditated and/or preplanned to cause harm to F1 and their Product.Further to the point, the OP appears to have no grasp of the Feature Set of the F1 G1000. An opinion which is shared by quite a few others in the thread.Once again the politically correct "customer can say or do anything with impunity" crowd seems to have made JR the target of their "but the customer can be easily offended" remarks while ignoring the OPs less than stellar motivation here...How long before this community "gets a clue" about some users motivation for posting.Just a question please. Why not obtain a refund quietly without forum postings and without the intentional attack on a fine dev and a fine product?

Let me clear a few things up.Earlier on Mr Roads and somebody else suggested I did not read the manual because I didn't know that those "bug splats" were "bug splats" whereas I said that I did read the manual. We're all correct. I did not throughly read the manual that came with the cessna 182t that I only bought today btw but I did read that manual that I got off the garmin site when I bought the mindstar g1000 awhile back. This is what I meant. As far as the functionality of both software goes I still think that the mindstar is more perfomant, faster and overall has more working features than the garmin that comes with the mustang and maybe the 182t.No point in having a few more features/menus if they are greyed out or if they turn your simming into a slide show imo.I have both softwares and I had better luck with the mindstar.Maybe a few more days with the cessna will change things ? Not sure. Maybe I didn't learn the manuals by heart but sure thing good enough to work the garmin. So overall the mindstar is/was better. This is my opinion.Ron, every time you see a post that does not praise a dev you start talking about evil, premeditation, dev bashing and all that. You see ill will all over the place.Your attitude is strange. You have been doing this for ever. What you do not see tho is that once you start posting on a thread it tends to go south/locked real quick. You have been around longer than gout and you're prob just as welcome. We went off topic. Now, flame away.

No flame required. Your thread title speaks volumes about your motivation for posting. It appears that you've yet to answer the question as posted."Why not obtain a refund quietly without forum postings and without the intentional attack on a fine dev and a fine product?"
