Here's an example of what's possible with a few effects to create the sound of an airplane passing by. Here some filtering, panning, reverb and flanging is used to make sound more lifelike. It starts with a couple of seconds of just the dry sound a of a bonanza, then followed by the effected version.. see how you like it :)

sounds good I like it!Thank you
Yep! More vacuous PR fluff. How about some interesting 'in-depth' technical details about how the sound engine has been improved?
Although I am not a marketeer I highly doubt it would be interesting to many to elaborate on the technical aspects of Flight. I would let the sounds speek for themselves. Oh wait... That's what they did. And they sound awfully good to me.

Cheers, Bert

That's right.. also, given the implied attention to detail, this kindof goes against the idea of Flight being just a dumb arcade game.It seems there a couple of crybabies who always see anything MS posts on the flight site in a negative way though.. i guess that's how some minds work ;)

Bill, I got the sounds to play at work, where everything is heavily firewalled, so they seem okay to me :)I just did a center click and each opened in media player.

I am not so heavily firewalled here because I manage my own settings. It's odd that MS's own browser (IE) cannot play the files at all. When attempting to open the links at the Flight website, IE locks up completely. I have to kill the process via the Task Manager!UPDATE: I just went back to the site and was able to play the sounds this time. Clicking on the download link still leads to a lockup though... It's quite possibly because at the moment I have a huge model loaded in Max9, Photoshop CS4 loaded, and a half-dozen other programs on the task bar ready for production to continue...I was able to play the sounds though, so I no longer care whether the download links work... :)

Crude Humor, mild violence. Even more evidence to support Flight being some kind of arcade game.
Perhaps the crude humour and mild violence comes from the multitude of XBL users that will sit there and call you gay for not moving out of their way during taxi? Thus leading to air rage and being cut up.Any new info on flight is always welcome, reguardless of how little the update is or how minute the infomation is in the grand scale.

Couldn't agree more. Some people around here have such a lack of respect that it is a bit disturbing.Didn't we learn manners in grammar school? LOL
This from the guy who went toe to toe with the X-Plane guy. Now thats funny.

So love and kisses all around Mitch?

i know, there is a lot of passion for microsoft flight simulators around here. I also enjoy FS for many years and I follow you guys here mostly as silent reader. But the way flight is being communiced to its fanbase is really 'special'. Where is all the social media of todays software companies that use heavily twitter, blogs, forums? And for flight, again a PR announcement???Even at microsoft, users are informed about other products in a very open way, not to mentioned other game producers!Just compare with windows 8 http://blogs.msdn.com/b/b8/ or some Silverlight blogs: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/mharsh/, http://blogs.msdn.com/b/tims/Maybe they should use their own social network: https://www.so.cl/Regards,Heiko

I bet they'll start spamming when the release date gets closer.

Cheers, Bert
