December 22, 201114 yr thanks for the heads up. i got the C-130 all in 1 pack for euro 9.99 instead of 89! also got the boeing 757 for euro 9.99 instead of 59.99! i also picked up the Iris Spartan for only $10 at Iris. these will keep me busy right thru the entire winter.Question: would the "angle of attack" training be worth the money for learning the 757? or could you recommend some other training instead?thanks...............Bill Packard Bell i11....64gb ram....1tb SSD....Nvidia 99000 4tb......400watt corsair......Windows ME 64.
December 22, 201114 yr There are no Angle of Attack training programs for Captain Sim products. My guess is that they are not authentic enough in their simulation to have garnered attention from Angle of Attack, but this is only speculation on my part. Shane Gavin
December 22, 201114 yr Commercial Member I just bought the 737-200 and the 767-300 and 767-200. All have issues. The 737-200 is missing textures (black), that came with the liveries in the download, THe 767 are missing info/dials/fonts on the main gauges and engine info. Anybody else seeing this? I have submitted a post at Captain Sim as well.Clutch Intel i9-12900KF, Asus Prime Z690-A MB, 64GB DDR5 6000 RAM, (3) SK hynix M.2 SSD (2TB ea.), 16TB Seagate HDD, Gigabyte GeForce 5080 RTX, Corsair iCUE H70i AIO Liquid Cooler, UHD/Blu-ray Player/Burner (still have lots of CDs, DVDs!) Varjo and HP VR headsets for mixed reality.
December 22, 201114 yr I decided to get the 707. I read the AVSIM review and it seemed that although there are issues - it seemed to fly very accurately even when compared to an actual Boeing manual. Now I am aware that Captain Sim may not be "authentic" (I had their 757 and it is not as good as say the Level D 767- it did help me to learn how to use the FMC etc, but it just had too many bugs like no VOR working etc.)Furthermore, I love as much realism as possible but in the end no simulation software on a home computer is going to be completely "realistic" (that's why I find it amusing that say PMDG and Level D do not model weather radars - but enough of that). I'd say go for it. For my new FSX computer I have bought the 707, 727 and C130 - I have a policy myself to stay away from CS's Boeings with complex autopilots as their 757 was very appauling in that regard. However, CS's classics are actually pretty good, so I will reccommend those. If you are having fun who cares?
December 22, 201114 yr So you can get a realistic amount of fun with unrealistic planes, or was it the other way around? :( Anyway, thumbs up for the classic CS birds. 10 Euros for the 707 is a blast. With Antarctica X in mind, the C-130 should be a nice one too. If you are having fun who cares? That's the spirit!
December 22, 201114 yr So you can get a realistic amount of fun with unrealistic planes, or was it the other way around?Sorry I meant it doesn't matter how well an addon is simulated it will never be completely "realistic" until you fly for real (we all know that though). However, I find the greater "realism" is indeed more fun that is why I buy addons and not fly default. I have come to accept some limitations with the software. If I am to spend around 30+ dollars on addons I want a top "notch" addon. I have never bought CS aircraft at full price and only when on special. I find at 10 euro it is worth it and I can put up with some issues etc (I can appreciate the time it takes to model this and I don't know of any better addons for these planes I love).I really don't know if that makes any sense and it is only my opinion (my 2cents disregard if you want).
December 22, 201114 yr I think you've hit the nail right on the head. The amount of fun possible isn't always bound to the 'realism' (advertising catchword!) in the addon, but to other things, often getting defined by the very personal preference of the user. Maybe he needs 'real' values, but it could also be that a nice cockpit atmosphere is the thing he looks for, instead of realistic spool up times or something. So, as said, the spirit is to fly and enjoy the stuff you like. And if some of it comes in at only 10 Euros, it couldn't get much better. I think we actually agree quite a bit. :(

I think we actually agree quite a bit. :(10 Euros also buys you a fair bit of grief - in the nicest possible way, because it means learning yet another aircraft! :( I'm interested in both the 707 and the Hercules but I've passed them up, even at this great price, as I just don't feel I can be bothered to learn two very different aircraft properly. These days I try to stick to the 737NGX and the Aerosoft Bus (which are a bit chalk and cheesy to start with), and a few easy GA types.Ian
December 22, 201114 yr I love the wwII bombers, the c130 radio panel is nice to paste into any of them (most packages use modern radios, I replace them). However, the c130 radio is a lot like the fsx stock DC3, ( only a little bit nicer laid out and a slightly easier to tune). Still it is a vintage boatanchor and those radios were all so clunky that not everybody these days has the patience to operate them.EDIT: 9 HOURS LEFT 4 THE SALE. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. December 22, 201114 yr Wow, I just learned the 707 was the 2nd jet airliner in the air, only the DeHaviland Comet flew earlier! 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. As for the missing livery textures, I have no idea.

Take a look at pics on Airliners.net. Don't know what the issue is the 737 though, probably a texture that didn't install properly. Thanks Tom My Youtube Videos! http://www.youtube.com/user/tf51d
