"item over and over again, but with a few items shuffled around and in a different location. Am I alone in thinking this way" I was thinking this for some time now, it does look very cookie cutter, thought I was the only one thinking this with all the hooplah over it I never brought it up, just a thought not bashing.
Perhaps it's because I live here in the PNW and also because I mostly fly low and slow and love to sightsee, but I still find their latest airports very full of character and very true to the real life airport and surrounding area, S43 for example nailed the airport and surrounding area all the way down to the nearby topsoil and garden rock dealer I have been to in real life. It's too bad that the sales and poor public relations nightmare took much of the shine off the Dec releases (understandably), but I still find that the devs did a great job and the quality is there for me for the ones I pre-ordered or bought as part of the sale, and I am interested to see how Monroe and JacksonHole will come out.

That is great to hear Stephen, I will keep my eye out for preview shots then and let you know when there's any news, Heiko does great work.Best wishes on a continued recovery Julian, we're all in some way or another in a continual learning mode with this hobby so you have a lot of company in that sense.

Very pleased to learn that what we are seeing is true to life. I can even sympathise with them, in as much as small airfields all have a sort of "cookie cutter" aspect to them. The issue is that they are not doing major airports at all and there is a consequent lack of variety to what's being offered, though I concede that their scenery is, in some respects, without peer. They have hit on a very effective way, to date, of selling scenery products, but I do think that, as their product range grows, what worked so well with PNW and Australia is difficult to repeat with much greater choice.

I have already lost touch a bit with what is available, what patch is needed for which product and which one needs to installed first, whether I have the latest library etc etc. The Release Announcements sub forum is a bit of a jumble and it would be so useful if FTX Central told me which add-ons I had were out of date much like GEX does at the touch of a button. It's shame that the interface is so clunky when the products are so good. I think I am up to date with everything but I feel like I would have to set aside a couple of hours to go through them all and find out.I do remember reading a few weeks ago that Bill Womack was working on an update to Stark's Twin Oaks - does anyone know if that has been released yet?

Not yet. I'm just hoping he hasn't become disgusted with all this to-do and thought 'sod it'

Thanks Ron. I hope not too.

I agree that FTX Central should have an update function indeed. It's a pita to figure out if you need updates or not because the download site has no dates so you end up comparing version numbers one by one and when you've got quite a bunch of addons that isn't a fun job to do.Having to install things in a certain order and with specific settings isn't too difficult once you know it, however it's not an easy system for newbies. But even I won't be surprised if one day I screw something up because of forgetting to set FTX Central in the right mode. The biggest problem I have lately is however setting FTX Central to the right mode... I own some US regions, NZSI and I sometimes fly in Europe. It happens way too often that I start a flight and discover the wrong region is activated... I wonder how they will take care of this when more regions become available. Imho they HAVE to come up with some sort of real time switching thing in order to make flying between various regions seamless..About addon airports being more of the same: I don't agree. Even more, I really disagree because some addons are AWESOME while others are okay... (though never really bad). However, on the other hand, although the addons themselves are quite different, I have to say that somehow, after installing the latest addon airport, I got the feeling I have anough airports now... Quite often when I approach an addon airport and see the area it covers, I think 'DId I pay that money for just this?' Anacortes being the only expection. It seems so little. But that also has to do with the fact that I am not interested anymore in checking out every detail down there: I am focusing more on the flying now. And since Orbx seems to focus more and more on details (dancing girls?) I don't think I will buy anything soon from them again.Obviously I wondered if my changed view on this all has to do with my changed view on Orbx... I guess so, really... I still love PNW and it's where I fly most, even with the 737NGX, but my general excitement about Orbx products has never been so low, due to what has happened. That's just how it works. I actually regret buying some of the later addons. But it also has to do with shifting interests. I am flying the 737NGX all the time lately and that's not the kind of plane you use with Orbx scenery. But it could well be I am flying GA low and slow above Orbx airports sometime soon: I like changes. :(

The J41 is giving me the best of both worlds and its the first time I have indulged in FS2Crew....which is fantastic by the way!16000 above FTX land is a sight to behold. Im going to have to get CRM now to 'extend' my range.I know what you mean about the airports though.....think I have enough for a while. The region packs are the best value by far anyway!

Sure, I like you guys have got to a point where I'm thinking, enough is enough... There's only so much cash in the coffers! I have all of the US airports and most of OZ, with more than 17 European airports! Like you Jeroen, although I still enjoy GA flying, I have to admit I am spending twice as much time flying the NGX in and around Europe.

I'm just making my own US photoscenery and flying the ngx. I definitely prefer the look of photoscenery to Orbx at the levels where my ng flies. Repeating tiles will never have a realistic look from up high. Also agree with the loss of excitement comment. Most people's hobbies have an emotional component. I would definitely not be trying to rain on that enthusiasm if I was selling product to flight simmers.

As talking about other companies' products is now banned, shouldn't the Pilots Lounge be closed? Its remit is tantamount to entrapment. On a side note which I hope the mods will allow to remain long enough for him to see before deleting, Mr Venema you run a company with a great product but you should be nowhere near your website. Your customer facing manner is dictatorial and abrasive, and the worst thing is you know it but don't care. No problem when you have a monoply, but that's the nasty thing about tech-based industries, monopolies tend to transfer.
