My First Forum “BANNED” ORBX

Featured Replies

Absolute pathetic, but then again (and it is purely speculative), but I think Anthony is also one of those that not afraid to put across his point of view and from reading between the lines I think there is some sour grapes about Anthony.. Somehow something he said must have been taken wrong, or correct and they didn't like it at all and I suspect it actually came from long ago over at OZx. It is not the first time I have seen posts removed on anything containing Anthony's products over at ORBX.
You are probably right, Bliks, but nevertheless, the least they could have done is send me a PM saying why they deleted my two topics. Soon to be banned or not, those were my two last over there.Fed up.

KInd regards

I was watching in interest from the beginning, pre-AU blue. So I have noted the difference. Ah well, everything changes. As for orbx uk, doesn't make much sense to me. Uk is small enough to easily cover with photoscenery, which has already been done by 2 companies. The airports are already covered well by uk2000 which fits with the above. If you don't like flat photosenery there's fs treescapes. The only real plus i see is hand-placed autogen for the towns - that would be nice.If i was orbx i'd be stepping in to one of the other european countries where there's not already so muvh coverage. Uk, germany and switzerland are really the only european countries with scenert i want to fly over at the moment.
dont agree.....pure photoscenery has never cut it for me (with or without AG tress). Would love to see FTX across the UK. Will have to buy it regardless of current issues!

I feel bad for Orbx because they are good at what they do – excellent products, good quality freeware and quick response to support requests. I am and will remain a loyal customer for those reasons. I am not exactly sure what’s going on but hopefully it will be sorted out soon – they seem to be losing a lot of goodwill here which may put off prospective customers/new simmers from enjoying these great enhancements to the default FSX.

Re: dont agree.....pure photoscenery has never cut it for me (with or without AG tress). Would love to see FTX across the ukLandclass (orbx regions) looks nice down low, but is fake. I want the real thing (photoscenery). Photoscenery plus library objects (what orbx has done with their airports and the surrounding towns) is the best imho. Uk2000 already has the airports well covered though, so is orbx really going to try to compete? There's plenty of world out there that noone has covered, would prefer to see something new.Btw, have you seen the new scotland 60cm that's coming out from horizon? With the right source images, photoscenery can be pretty convincing even down low-ish.

Guess I will soon be added to the "banned" list as well. I just posted a topic concerning Anthony Lynch's new Tecnam Eaglet, perfect for Orbx sightseeing btw, on their general forum. It was instantly removed. Opened another one asking for an explanation and met the same fate...Not a friendly place anymore :(
Hi, Jean-Paul.Same thing happened with me a few weeks back when I posted about how outstanding the Tecnam Sierra is. When I saw that the thread disappeared, I sent a message to Jay Kae, who explained that it competes with Orbx Lancair, even though imo the planes belong to different categories, the Lancair being quite fast whereas the Sierra slow.So I guess same thing happened to your thread. They view these two planes as competing products.

I remember when they (who ever made that decision) took their hardware forum out......a lot of peoples could not beleived it (including me), Stephen, me and others helped a lot of peoples over there with their hardware problems, I had a thread in that forums about my last computer built (in my sig) with pictures of the test I made and comments, step by step procedure, at the time what I was building was top of the line and a lot of members were waiting to see how far I was "gonna" push that rig, after they closed that part of their forum a lot of peoples got upset and came here. One thing I have to say to their defense, their forum their rules, and I always respected that, I also said that they have good products, I don't have to agree with the way they run their place, and that is why Orbx forum is not for me.

You are right Naji. I also finally got an e-mail from Jay Kae stating the same thing. Bit of double standards as they have a thread going on right now about another non Orbx commercial offering.Too bad but I won't loose any sleep over it. I still enjoy their enjoy their addons as they are second to none. I just won't interact on their forums anymore which is not such a big deal.

The question has to be... is more damage done to possible sales by allowing the mention of a competitior's plane, or is more damage done from a PR point of view by deleting the post? :(

As a business man myself I can tell you that happy customers don't usually spread the word that fast about a product, one unhappy customer will spread the word as fast as bushfires...I will bend over backwards to keep my customers happy no matter what, I'll give them free stuff if they had a problem with my product or the shipping, what ever it is I have to do to keep them happy I'll do, if we can't agree on something they'll get a full refund.PS: I have to say that I don't have to kind of customers, I have some customers that I do not always agree with and are not the easiest one to deal with but they are paying customers and as such I will listen to them no matter what, their $$$ is as good as everybody else $$$, at the end of the day they are the one putting butter on my bread.

Thats insane - you could say the same thing about any number of Carenado aircraft (and many others) and those topics dont get closed over there!

Alain, agree 100% but the problem is that Orbx has very little in the way of competition - and they know it!Im sure things would be very different if you had another 2 or 3 devs doing the same kind of terrain addons.

I have a lot of customers buying from me because (I think) I have the best product in my field (I used the product myself), I've built a good reputation by listening to my customers and doing what ever I had to do to keep them happy regardless of the fact that I may be the king of the hill, nobody and I mean NOBODY received a different treatment business wise from me because they were spending $100.00 or $5,000.00 in my store or because they were not agreeing with me...To each his own but I can tell you that nothing is for ever.....trust me on this one... :wink:Edit: Orbx does have a good product, I always said that but the way they are treating their customers is enough for me not to spend my $$ there, it's not because they have a good product that I will run overthere with my tail between my legs just to brag about what I fly over, that is my opinion and only mine, it's like I said, to each his own, this forum here is full of good peoples and I will never think less of them because they are buying Orbx products.

FS is a small world.....bad reputations spread faster than almost anywhere else I know of!Some addon devs are paying the price still from 2002 etc.FTX is a good product, but you only have to see the names in this forum to see the trend.

Looks nice, but still... it only looks nice from one direction. And things are so awfully flat during take off and landing. I own Horizon's England scenery (south, middle and north) and once in a while I give it yet another try. The mountains in Wales look cool, but the rest I can't get used to. It's a shame because I would also love to have photoreal scenery everywhere. I also downloaded NL2000 (Dutch scenery) but the quality is bad overall (yes, I know it's free, but that doesn't mean I have to think it's good :( ). I live there so I fly there once a year or so... but again, those flat textures don't cut it for me... The autogen in PNW is better then that! Pity the groundtextures under forests suck. I have my hopes set on MS Flight... :wink:Biggest problem is of course that covering large regions with high res photoreal takes up way too much disk space.Back OT: I still have PNW and ALL the airports I bought for PNW installed, but I don't think I will buy anything from them again. PNW is nice but more then enough for my kind of flying. I also own PFJ, NRM and NZSI but I never ever fly there. And I don't even have AU Blue and Gold, which I also own, installed... I hope MS Flight's Hawaii will have a more photoreal idea. I already heard the textures underneath the trees look better then in FSX or PNW, so there is hope!In all honesty... I don't really like to fly above PNW and all those addon airports anymore... It's one of the reasons I've been only flying the PMDG 737NGX lately. It's still great scenery which I would recommend to anyone who wants to buy scenery for FSX (although I personally wouldn't buy anything anymore for FSX until we all know what MS Flight has in store!!!), but flying above it gives me a bad taste in the mouth right now. It's a shame.
