I updated my profile. As you can see the oatmeal has a good effect on my complexion.

Thank you for the compliment Howard but I'm no computer wiz., I just love that kind of stuff.
Stephen and Alain,I did not post much in that forum, but I read it every day and anything from both of you I read and took in, its how I ended up with the PC in my sig (oldish now) It was a gem of a forum and all credit to both of you.You probley will never no just how many people you did help there. So it may be very later but better late than never..........Thank you very much. I know where and who to ask when I look for my next one.Kind RegardsDavid.
Yes, it was indeed a sad day when the hardware forum became a victim of Orbx's particular, nay peculiar, brand of "cleansing". I also appreciated what was being done there from the sidelines - and it was very needed at the time, as hardware really was struggling to cope with PNW at release time.
Thank you guys. I am sure that Alain would agree as would all the others that worked hard to build that forum, that it was a lot of fun. I just regret losing all the documented evidence of how many times I was right, and Alain was wrong.LOLOLOL! :( :(

You know it's funny, but I have never felt less connected with the Orbx stable than I do now. I think they have succeeded in killing the desire for what they do, by being so unreasonable with people who have invariably spent a small fortune on their products. They are no longer hyping their next release with a lot of new screenshots etc. in the forums and that is a further disincentive to go there anywhere as regularly as I used to. To say nothing of the now extinct hardware forum, which really was a great read every day. That said, you can't argue with the quality of their scenery (notice scenery, not aircraft :( ). I will always eventually return to each of the regions I own, which is all of them. I'm just not sure I have the appetite to buy any more. Somehow the excitement has gone.Times change and the PMDG 737 has got a very tight hold on me now. Having flown around Europe, much of it stock scenery, all weekend in the company of my new FS2 Crew First Officer, I can't see me doing much GA flying Orbx style for a long while. Maybe I'm an exception, but I think it just goes to show how the rot can set in when a corner of our lovely little hobby is taken over by what amounts to bullying and scant respect for the consistent support of some of the most enthusiastic members of the flight sim community. The loss of the hardware forum was a precise demonstration of their regrettable attitude. They had it all, then somewhere along the line their whole modus operandi acquired a mean streak and they proceeded to consistently shoot themselves in both feet. What a missed opportunity. The prevailing attitude over there seems to be that people will buy the scenery purely on reputation and its unquestioned excellence. I would argue that, in any selling situation, there is a certain art to maintaining and developing customer involvement and this is now completely lacking at Orbx. There are plenty of other developers offering excellent products too, and with total civility and the inclusion of their customer base.

Hmm, I agree. I enjoy the forum, the wonderful scenery and of course all the guys over there. But, sure, something is now missing... and it's a shame.

Well said. I concur. As much as I admire what Orbx has done, I won't be acquiring any more of their sceneries for precisely the reasons you list. Cheers,Fritz

I'll go along with most of the sentiments voiced in this thread so far. Lord knows I've had my run-in with his nibs. But I wouldn't go as far as to say I won't buy any more Orbx scenery. In my view, that would be a dis-service to the band of builders.....and to myself! I won't cut my nose off(need it to keep my shades on) to spite my face.

That's why I suggested a Moderator to Tom for this forum. The devs deserve better representation.ORBX is still the best regional scenery available for the VFR flyer and I will continue to buy airports and regions.

I have to agree with you, except to ask the question what is so appealing to the devs about the Orbx collective, as it were? I also agree that never buying any more Orbx products may be a step too far, but as I said it makes you consider it and a certain magic has gone.

But it is also the developers decision to stay under the Orbx umbrella, and by extension they risk being caught in the fallout.Bryan.
