February 8, 201214 yr This release is something I see using regularly. Those of us that spend what precious hours we have left after family, kids, life obligations like....work, might not really be able to use a 777 for its intended purposes (I would love to simulate those long flights, but then again 12 hours of CRZ :( ). I love and need the shorter range 2-3 hour airplanes that have sex appeal and relevance. The DC-6 has 2 out of 3 of my ideal attributes and it will need constant fiddling with in flight (I like messing with switches and knobs to keep my aircraft alive). Also as a real world GA pilot, its way of getting around is closer to how I actually conduct flights than the NGX or the 777. Nothing like flying those radials on radials :( . In a dream FSX hangar I would have:PMDG NGX (got it)PMDG 737 3/4/500PMDG CRJPMDG ERJPMDG 757PMDG MD-8xxPMDG Dash 8 (coming)PMDG MD-11F (got it)PMDG 727Thankfully most of this is covered by others but PMDG has just spoiled me with quality and immersion. Hard to even tell when they get it wrong. I look forward to flying the DC-6! Edited February 8, 201214 yr by Dan F Daniel Fernandez
February 9, 201214 yr Sounds like I'm one of the few that won't be buying this a/c. Not because I dislike PMDG (quite the opposite), I just don't have any interest in classic planes. Go ahead, bring on the barrage :( ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dana Palmer KJAC
February 10, 201214 yr Hello everyone! So I am pretty sure that most of you have heard the news that PMDG is going to release the DC-6..I am not sure but I am guessing that it will be for the FSX only. I am a FS2004 person but upgrading the computer so I think it is time to move into the new flight sim. I was really hoping that the next project would have been a 777 but oh well..and I am pretty sure that most of you will agree. I just want everyone to know that I am not trying to bash on the new PMDG project because I am a huge fan of them and I love the 737 and the 747. I just wanted to see what eveyone elses opinions about this project will be..Thank you!Best regards to you all!I got mine, a I7 2600K thingy.. installed FSX, and I must say it runs very very well now, so bring on the DC6!
February 11, 201214 yr I hope they do they Connie too, love the classics.+1 MSFS2020 MICHAEL J proud supporter KJAX FLORIDA
February 17, 201214 yr I am flying my DC-6 within FS2004 and I will do so in the near future. Is there any recommendation but to stay with Calclassic's DC-6, too? I can hardly believe there is one.Or does anybody know if PMDG's is compatible downwards? Edited February 17, 201214 yr by GeyerH Harald Geyer Gründer der Messerschmitt Freunde Dresden v. V.
February 17, 201214 yr HiFSX only. No more PMDG new developments for fs2004 due to limitations.Regards Brent Lewis

February 18, 201214 yr Doesn't interest me really, to be honest. I'm to young to remember props as my first aeronautical experiences as a nipper were aboard Dan-Air BAC 1-11s and Britannia 737-200s so there's no big emotional pull there personally. I like to fire up stuff like PFE and FS2Crew and rely on the automation to be able to manage complex departures and arrivals with only me at the controls. The DC6 is going to be a real handful to fly and will undoubtedly require about half an hour just to get the damn thing started. Not for me, I'm afraid but it does look stunning, as one would expect from PMDG.
February 21, 201214 yr USED to be! USED to be a ton of Connies also. There IS a ton of DASH-8's. 1034 by all estimates. Seems PMDG gets these pet projects going knowng the followers will buy them just because who they are. Not so much what the communtiy can really use or need. Ummm sounds familiar theses days.I seriously doubt this is a "pet project." There is a dearth of good radial propliners out there - and many folks who would love the challenge of learning to drive these planes. That would include me. PMDG is a pretty solid business. They know their market exceptionally well. This is not a hobby for most of them - it's their job.I'm frankly less than excited about the 777. Pretty much just like driving the 737 in terms of which buttons you push and when - just a lot more time in cruise which interests me not. Colin+1I remember standing in the DC-7 flight deck in the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum thinking that it'd be neat if someone did one of these old birds in FS. A DC-6 is close enough for me.A DC-7 is just a bigger DC6 with larger, (and probably less relilable) engines to give it trans con range.
February 21, 201214 yr Still believe its another pet project like the JS41. Of course if they made an ICON the believers would think that it was the greatest thing. Rather see a Connie or Dash-8 before a DC-6!i Connie was probably the most exquisite plane ever made and I fly it much of the time. So I'm not a nostalgia hater. ArDee

I get that you hate everyone else gravitates towards the "big name company", but eventually stating your opinion turns into simple ranting and/or trolling. PMDG has a history of good products. If purchasing their products based on this reputation is "fanboyism", than I'm definitely a "######". :( Mark me down as an A2A, Hi-Fi, and FSDT ###### too.The JS41 is an aircraft Robert R. is type rated in. He flew it for a regional airline... Guess what? RSR also holds a 747 type... The DC6 is an aircraft one of the key team members has one on one time with at some obscure airline in Africa. Are you seeing a bit of a pattern here?! :( ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
