February 29, 201214 yr The one thing I disliked about FSX, was the lame Mission system. Talk about a flopped concept. If the same about of time had been spent on fixing FSX, as was WASTED on the Mission system, FSX would have been far better. Now I find in FLIGHT, I am "FORCED" to fly "Archade Kiddie Missions", if I want to evolve the gameplay past that of and Archade game, collecting coins. Here is an IDEA : How many LIVE POINTS do I have to spend to NOT have to waste time with the KIDDIE opening missions, and get FLIGHT to run in "free Flight" / "ADULT Mode" ?? February 29, 201214 yr Moderator Oh for pete's sake Geoff. Just spend the five minutes to complete the ab-initio "lessons" and unlock the Free Flight mode. You may then completely ignore all the rest of 'em. Or, put your skepticism aside and actually try to successfully complete some of the aerobatic challenges. They aren't nearly as simple as you probably imagine. They are actually very well done, and difficult to achive! As has been mentioned more than once, most of us in the beta team suggested that there be a "back door" to bypass the two very brief introductory "lessons," but... :Talking Ear Off: Fr. February 29, 201214 yr You cant be bothered to do two tutorial flights, Heres my advice to you, uninstall it.
February 29, 201214 yr You don't need to spend any Live Points, you do need to spend about 5-10 minutes of your time (rather bad design decision on the part of Microsoft that one IMO) to fly the first two missions. After that you can enter free flight and never worry about missions, challenges, levels, achievements or aerochaces ever again. Seriously try it, you just might like what you find. Unless you mainly want to fly long-range airliner style flights, then Flight just isn't for you. John-Alan Pascoe
March 1, 201214 yr Don't even think of flying too far from the balloons, nanny won't let you. At least it's only two missions, I had hoped it might only be one. The instructor's nasal perkiness is almost too much to bear. "Good Jahhhb". So patronising. How many people who play Flight are going to be young enough to not feel insulted by such a script. As there's only one more compulsory mission to be got through I might keep going with it. You cant be bothered to do two tutorial flights, Heres my advice to you, uninstall it.Don't you think it would be better to tell you in the opening screen there are two intro missions to be completed? Or show you a list of missions to choose from (greyed out of course) so you have an idea of what's on offer? That way you would know how many hoops you have to jump through to start exploring the scenery.By all means have a series of missions which unlock as you progress, but free flight should be available right out of the box. March 1, 201214 yr As has been mentioned more than once, most of us in the beta team suggested that there be a "back door" to bypass the two very brief introductory "lessons," but... :Talking Ear Off:I guess I must "CONFESS" that I am GUILTY of not reading EVERY "Flight Post" -- so I must have Missed the "more than once mentioned" info you refer to. My BAD !!
March 1, 201214 yr It's not just the beginning missions, you also have to jump through hoops if you want to try the other available liveries! There all locked, until you complete certain tasks, or reach a level in the game. That's fine for Missions and Challenges, but Free Flight? Not for me!! March 1, 201214 yr The two intro missions take 10 minutes and are quite reasonable as they focus on you demonstrating the basics of flight. You probably weren't allowed to solo a real ga plane without demostrating some basic knowledge. The next half dozen missions are all very aviation- related. Landimg a plane, aerobatics etc. i've actually learnt thkngs from them - the checklists, correct manifold pressure, approach speed for a given aircraft etci've got quite a few flight hours now and, despite the pre-release hysteria, haven't seen my first told coin yet. It's eminently possible to fly around the Hawaian island, practicing circuits/checklists/navigation etcAs for unlocking paint schemes - i do get that you want complete freedom in free flight, as i do too. But this is a pretty minor limitation and is actually not at all unrealistic, as real-world planes only come with a single paint scheme! March 1, 201214 yr Actually, the coin missions are fairly tough to get gold in.... imho... March 1, 201214 yr I thought the two introductory missions were quite good because they showed you what some of the onscreen information was about and what to press on your controllers, mouse, keyboard etc to do things. If . A lot of us never RTFM so it was good in that respect.
March 1, 201214 yr What if you reinstall, would you need to refly the opening tutorials? Simmerhead - Making the virtual skies unsafe since 1987!
