This is absolutely great news. I am very much looking forward to Alaska and any other DLC that MS has to offer. This is a good day for the flight simulation community. Great job Microsoft!!!

My favorite missions from ACOF were the DC-3 through the Aleutian islands. Hope we can do that in MSF. Another thing Alaska is know for is float planes, so maybe we'll see a couple of those.-Gary Letona

Or an Era air pack with Ariel Tweto as my co-pilot
That will work just fine! :give_rose:

What good news, I hope they do Australia someday.

What the ###### did you just ######ing say about me, you little ######? I’ll have you know I graduated top of my class in the Navy Seals, and I’ve been involved in numerous secret raids on Al-Quaeda, and I have over 300 confirmed kills. I am trained in gorilla warfare and I’m the top sniper in the entire US armed forces. You are nothing to me but just another target. I will wipe you the ###### out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my ######ing words. You think you can get away with saying that ###### to me over the Internet? Think again, ######. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of spies across the USA and your IP is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, maggot. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your life. You’re ######ing dead, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can kill you in over seven hundred ways, and that’s just with my bare hands. Not only am I extensively trained in unarmed combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the United States Marine Corps and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable &@($* off the face of the continent, you little ######. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little “clever” comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your ######ing tongue. But you couldn’t, you didn’t, and now you’re paying the price, you goddamn idiot. I will ###### fury all over you and you will drown in it. You’re ######ing dead, kiddo.

Would love to land a Cub on top of Ayers Rock! Good choice!

As much as I am extremely proud to be Australian and as much as I love my country I have to say that I think for the most part Australian scenery would be boring. Obviously there are some very nice bits, but not really a single large area that would be as visually compelling as the first two scenery packs. Obviously the areas around the Great Dividing range would be attractive, particularly north-eastern Victoria and perhaps areas between Sydney and, say, Orange. Definitely some areas in Queensland too, and a few other areas, but certainly not the whole country. There is also the question about getting a financial return on the scenery MS produce. OK, I would buy Australia regardless of cost but that is partly because I am Australian and partly because I have the "football card" mentally (I have to collect 'em all). I just wonder how many non-Australians would actually buy Australia though given that such a huge proportion of the country is flat and unpopulated.

Do you have FTX Australia? I'm also curious as to how many non-Australians have bought the Orbx version at AUD99.95 or USD106.
I wonder what the cost will be, I'm guessing somewhere in the region of $50-60. It's crucial MS get the pricing right or they risk killing their DLC market.Bryan.
my guess 20$ - 25$

I have ORBX but as good as it is, I just don't get that excited flying over scenery even of that quality in Australia. I am always turning back to other parts of the World. Australia is without any doubt a great place to travel around on the ground, but not so good from the air imho.I suspect the number of people who bought ORBX coverage for Australia would be quite small in the scheme of Microsoft's sales targets for Flight scenery. Alaska is world-famous for it's beautiful scenery and I expect MS would be concentrating on similar types of areas now and in the medium-term future.

I dont see why is Alaska better in any way than Australia... From me thats 10k nm east and west.. dont really care about any of these regions.

My guess is that at least some of the 1.2 million miles would be Canadian. For those wondering what happens at the border of the scenery my guess is it switches to very low resolution textures and elevation, and no airports, buildings or autogen.- Gary Letona

Can't wait to get Alaska! Wonder if we will be able to fly from Hawaii to Alaska in a Learjet....see my user name :) And the GA flying is going to be amazing!

I am seeing a trend towards scenic areas obviously for DLC. Hawaii.. Alaska.. Maybe next is California or Washington State.. Or maybe I'm getting ahead of myself here.
Possibly, Maybe, Heaven Forbid, there may also be some content outside the US ..........................You know, that little bit of land just outside the US borders, sometimes known as the 'rest of the world'.. :PAlaska is great, and if TrackIR is supported by then, I'd buy it in an instant, but joking apart, FLIGHT hasn't just been made for the US audience, and I am sure we will see some nice interesting other parts of the world offered as DLC content.....

The same could be said about huge proportions of the US..... Mid west plains etc. There is always a bias towards PNW, Alaska, etc, and those areas are beautiful but personally, I want something different. I would love to see a scenery area coverage (for FLIGHT of FSX) of the North Eastern US Seaboard; New England; Maine down through Connecticut. That area easily matches the beauty of the PNW. I know, I've extensively travelled in both!Or as above, some interesting non-US areas.
