March 5, 201214 yr I actually made a suggestion during Beta that when the scoring screen appears to have a small blurb at the bottom next to the Happy Passenger score to explain why you were scored the way you were (i.e. 'Taxi too fast' 'Flying too high/low" 'Rough Landing'). I guess it was another suggestion, like many others, that were ignored.
March 5, 201214 yr I like to do loop-di-loops when I'm carrying animal cargo... especially monkeys... they make loud monkey sounds. Me like that!LOL!
March 5, 201214 yr I take off, and I'm climbing out... and some nitwit passenger says "Should we be flying this low?"...Where the heck is the 'eject' button?
March 6, 201214 yr It just bugs me that there is no visual or any sound to say you made them unhappy. It just bugs me that there is no visual or any sound to say you made them unhappy.Yes there is-they will tell i.e. enjoyed the flight or I'll fly with you again. Or words to that effect.Oh, and if you want to make to gal happy in the biplane tour make sure you find a good quick spot to land when she has to pee. Edited March 6, 201214 yr by Mikrco
March 6, 201214 yr I like to do loop-di-loops when I'm carrying animal cargo... especially monkeys... they make loud monkey sounds. Me like that!LOL!haha, i had a freeware plane/panel in FSX, and on my first flight i landed without lowering my gear. There was suddenly the sound of hundreds of people screaming in panic. I was shocked for a second, then couldn't stop laughing. had to admire whoever it was that put that effect in there.
May 7, 201214 yr I'm typically running about a 50% "happy passenger" rating. Anybody here ever fly charter or scenics in real life? I'd say this is one thing that Flight has nailed "spot on!" LOL!!!! :LMAO: (Had a friend who flew scheduled service in a floatplane. Customers got angry when they discovered that he couldn't land at the international airport: 1) because he doesn't have the "little wheels" under the floats and 2) because ATC wouldn't let him anyway even if he did! :P ) Just flew a biplane tour from Lihue. Apparently I was "busted" because I chose to takeoff from the closest runway rather than taxi 2 miles to the designated departure runway (And that made my passenger UNHAPPY???). As I would've done in real life, I would've requested the closest runway from ATC... It is annoying though that the (female, in this case) voice effect goes on all cheerful & happy despite burning you. Two-faced little wench!!! I had a $100 hamburger mission in the Stearman with a frisky-sounding female voice. Sounded like she was "game," so at a safe altitude, I decided to roll it. At which point she freaked out apparently. She said something fairly innocuous about "making her earn her burger," but her little passenger icon went "!" Then it went "?" Then it returned to green checkmark so I thought she was OK again. Apparently not, as she seems to have held it against me with my "happy score" at the end. If Flight is that picky about your flying technique, I don't know how you can earn a "happy pax" in those biplane ride jobs. Don't know about the rest of you, but my Stearman is pretty "buggy" on the ground- idles high & picks up speed even if I pull her mixture back. Brakes are "grabby," even if I set them for "smooth/easy." In FSX, as much as I love A2A's Accusim Cub, "Heidi" the passenger is a bit annoying in this regard as well. If you do anything short of an ABSOLUTE "squeaker" for a landing, like all you can feel are the tires give, she's neutral at best. And if you touch down with the moderate "plunk" of a normal & healthy landing, she starts grunting & complaining about her back. So if you want to keep her happy, you have to carry a smidge of throttle and float about 2/3 down the runway to get that pure "clean wheelie" to satisfy her. Which is poor technique in the real world, of course. But hey, it's just a game... I was about to throw in the towel with the "jobs" in Flight, but I guess I'll skip the "buggy" Stearman & try some $100 hamburgers only in the RV-6A or the Icon. See if my "happy pax index" improves... “If anybody ever tells you anything about an aeroplane which is so bloody complicated you can't understand it, take it from me: it's all balls.” -R. J. May 7, 201214 yr I was about to throw in the towel with the "jobs" in Flight, but I guess I'll skip the "buggy" Stearman & try some $100 hamburgers only in the RV-6A or the Icon. See if my "happy pax index" improves... Hmm, I am not having trouble getting happy passengers - unless I make them unhappy intentionally. I usually can get happy ones easily in the Stearman, RV, and Maule. Mostly of late I have been flying jobs in the Maule, I do like those biplane tours at times though too. Not real big on the hamburger runs, I have done a few though. Don B
May 7, 201214 yr I almost never get a happy passenger bonus from the Stearman. It probably has a lot to do with my landings. I've also noticed that you can get comments or a special icon from turning too fast on the ground, and possibly from taxiing to fast. Obviously if you get a comment about flying too low, you'll have an unhappy passenger. I believe you'll also get a comment from banking too much in a turn. Another thing: The happy passenger bonus isn't always the same as the happy passenger count in your pilot profile. In other words, you can get the bonus from a flight, but not get the happy passenger count incremented. I've had the most luck getting a happy passenger when rescuing the kayaker; the happy passenger count has always incremented. Hook Larry Hookins Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of EarthAnd danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
May 7, 201214 yr I usually skip the taxiing to the runway and to the parking spot because I have the destination marker disabled. A benefit of this is that it's easier to keep the passengers happy because they do moan quite soon about your speed and turning. I don't like taxiiing anyway (I have the game to fly in) and I also find taxiing quite hard from within the VC: I am having problems seeing where the taxiways are and usually end op on the grass... I think this also has to do with the runways and taxiways being textures now instead of those sharp er... what-do-you-call-it in FSX. (I like it more as it is in Flight though!). It's impossible (for me) to taxi on the taxiways without using the topdown view... so I rather skip it. During the flights it's quite easy to keep the passengers happy unless you have terrible weather. Yesterday I landed a bit too hard in the Maule and had a yellow passengers icon for a second or two, but I still got the happy passengers points in the end. Since this game is about flying, I think you shouldn't be penalized so hard for doing things a bit wrong during taxi...
May 7, 201214 yr Hi Folks Just flew a biplane tour from Lihue.Apparently I was "busted" because I chose to takeoff from the closest runway rather than taxi 2 miles to the designated departure runway (And that made my passenger UNHAPPY???). No it didn't, as there's currently no such detection. You'll have upset them in some other way. e.g. G-forces, attitude, FPM, etc. Agree mismatched dialogs often detract from the immersion. her little passenger icon went "!"Then it went "?" Then it returned to green checkmark so I thought she was OK again. The Pax Comfort Widget only displays the passenger's "current status". Their "worst ever status" during the flight, is what matters for the bonus and satisfaction percentage. HTH ATB Paul ODG Preview
May 7, 201214 yr Passengers are so hard to please. I mean really... one or two barrel rolls and they get all huffy. I wish they wouldn't scream like that -- it's so distracting. There's no place like this place, so this must be the place.
May 7, 201214 yr The Pax Comfort Widget only displays the passenger's "current status". Their "worst ever status" during the flight, is what matters for the bonus and satisfaction percentage. And even watching the widget doesn't always tell you much. Sometimes a brief yellow will cause them to be unhappy, and sometimes it won't.
May 7, 201214 yr It's annoying how at the end, they'll always be so happy, even if you made them sick during the flight (and some of them get sick for no reason.) The worst, though, is that twit who's scared to death of flying on hamburger runs. Then don't come!! Even with him, I've had his status come up as sick, and then at the end he's all happy and excited, and sometimes even says he didn't even have to use his airsickness bags. Were you sick in your hands and then stuffed it in your pockets? He will scream, and so will some of the others, depending on the circumstances, like if you descend too quickly.
May 7, 201214 yr It would be cool if we could have a way to communicate back to them. Maybe a 3 question or answer box that will appear every 5 min or something. Would be nice if we could help calm them down so that even if they got unhappy we could "convince" them otherwise. :Pig: "Arguing with a pilot is like wrestling with a pig in the mud, after a while you begin to think the pig likes it."
