March 19, 201214 yr That's not a list of things that are required to make a sim, that's a laundry list of I WANT's. Some of that wasn't even in FSX.BINGO!
March 20, 201214 yr What happened to "Dill Pickle" ? ; )I was also under the impression that the question of what is Flight had been already settled for goods weeks ago .... PierreP3D when its freezing in Quebec....well, that's most of the time...C-GDXL based at CYQB for real flying when its warming up...
March 20, 201214 yr ATC Weather Management and Real World Weather Flight Planner SID and Stars A/P Jets, helos and gliders Planes with the same quality of PMDG ones therefore status of the art FMC f.i. and much much more Airports working vehicles Checklists for each plane VC for each plane Landing replays At least 80% of world coverage Co-pilot functions and helps Wet / snowy / heat hazed runways Planes mechanical failures and stress consequences Let's say pretty much everything that Flights misses and still ignores. These are all features I never bother with in any other sim and I doubt I'd even notice, let alone care, if they were never implemented in Flight.Rise of Flight doesn't have ATC, world coverage, jets, helos, real-world weather, detailed weather management, gliders or even runways, and I don't think you'll find many arguing that it's somehow "not a real sim".
March 21, 201214 yr That's not a list of things that are required to make a sim, that's a laundry list of I WANT's. Some of that wasn't even in FSX. HookYes, and a lot of it isn't necessary for a GA sim. Clearly flight is not a commercial jet sim right now.A sim is allowed to simulate part of reality only, even a very small part. The technical name when you choose one specific aspect of the real world to replicate is 'part-task trainer'.Flight is a broader sim than that, but clearly doesn't try to achieve the breadth of coverage of FSX. Oz Sim Rig: MSI RTX3090 Suprim, an old, partly-melted Intel 9900K @ 5GHz+, Honeycomb Alpha, Thrustmaster TPR Rudder, Warthog HOTAS, Reverb G2, Prosim 737 cockpit. Currently flying: MSFS: PMDG 737-700, Fenix A320, Leonardo MD-82, MIlviz C310, Flysimware C414AW, DC Concorde, Carenado C337. Prepar3d v5: PMDG 737/747/777. "There are three simple rules for making a smooth landing. Unfortunately, no one knows what they are."

I think you are starting to confuse Flight Simulation with Reality !CAE's 20 million dollars level-d sims only have about 10 airports not to mind 80% of the planet.Peoples expectations are way too high, but it is because of FSX and the likes of PMDG that this has happened. ( PMDG have pushed the boundaries Big Time but it has taken them over 10 years to arrive at the NGX !!)FSX on its own is not actually very good. The 747, 737 and Airbus are awful and most of the GA stuff is dodgy to say the least. You should send that list to CAE and they might build you a sim for a few million dollars. ( you might even get a few more airports.....lol)Fred. Frederic Steiner.
March 21, 201214 yr Game or simulator.... does it really matter ?... It's all in your head ! Boys with Toys ! ( sorry Arwen... )As far as i'm concerned i am still that little boy, up in the attic. Pair of steps underneath the garret window (open). Couple of gauges drawn on the roof beam underneath the window. Old broomstick in one hand, old bicycle pedal in the other ( mounted on beam by my older brother ). Helmet made of old cap, half a globe and some cardboard. O2 mask cut from old gasmask and vacuum-cleaner hose. Small matras from my baby brother's bed as parachute. If i was lucky ( parents not home) i took the vacuum-cleaner so i could fly a jet.Was it a flight simulator ? Sure was to me ! :smile:cheers, jan Jan

March 21, 201214 yr Useful for rw training / proficiency= sim for me. Every sim from fs4 ( long time simmer before fs4 but that is when I began flight training ) ift pro, pro pilot, fly series, the fu series and every fs series since fs2000( in the 90's decade forget it-fs useless for me then.)Flight -figure another decade lost-xplane 10- yes after it losing me since the beginning-now the useful one to me. Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
