Yeah it says 'may be' not 'is'. Supposed I could of emailed and asked for sure but I find it poor taste and trickery they don't outright state in bold that NEXTMap is not included.Also, does FSGen have Australia, I can't find it anywhere? The World '07 coverage map image links are broken for me on their site.

 

Nope! The shipped media should be considered by those who don't want to make backups themselves.

Not concerned about media - I always prefer DL's - just the quality difference. Good to hear that the compression makes no discernible difference.

This is pretty clearly spelled out in the NEXTMap product section as well. Sorry, but I see no "trickery" here and noted this before I saw your post.Scott

I'm glad you brought up a good point I didn't mention. Maybe you saved a few angry customers!As for Australia, no. It's not included. I'm currently using this freeware: http://www.simviation.com/fsx_terrainmesh.htm Search that page for "Australia". The mesh is good and cover Australia, Papua New Guinea, and New Zealand.

OK so where do you see the AFM tool sold separately for 29.90? I always thought it was exclusively bundled only with the ultimate product.Is there a download version? Is it user friendly and straightforward to use?Thanks,Alex

Re: The NEXTMAP:I bought the 1 year subscription under the 70% off deal...and I also missed that NEXTMap wasn't included...BUT!!!!You can get it as a bundle with a big discount as a subscriber...and the 70% code also applies to it, so I ended up spending an extra 7 dollars or so to get NEXTMap Europe.I still feel like I got a sweet deal!Cheers

Hm - guess I will have to fly some more European airports then!!Have still been flying mostly Oceania at the moment - did a brief stint around southern England and didn't notice any issues and just flew out of LOWI which looked ok?

No, because the mesh is more accurate it exposes the limitations of the FSX model of flat runways.Most airports and runways have multiple elevations across the area they cover. As FSX can only display flat runways, the more accurate mesh can cause the sim to render airports on plateaus. Plus, many airports in FSX are not placed very accurately in the first place. This can make the problem worse.

ALL airports are flat in FSX regardless. Higher resolution mesh just exposes this problem.It's not the mesh that is wrong, it's the way FSX renders airports.
