March 23, 201214 yr I have seen the following picture of the dev team and I wonder about two things:First: why is there a playing card deck on the chair front right?Secondary: The ceiling in the office seems to be covered with ICE? How is that?

How is that?not on the Dev team (darn it!) but the ceiling has the spray on "insulation" that is used a lot in "open ceiling" buildings. I'm not in the trade, so don't know if it's for sound insulation, corrosion protection, or just as a "style"
March 23, 201214 yr I have been in that office recently. As mentioned by the last poster the pipework is exposed and covered in a silver foil for insulation. Can't answer about the pack of cards. As I recall the item it is placed on is some sort of simulator rig...might have been for racing cars though...... Jon ------- Microsoft Flight Sim MVP Airport Design Editor FSDeveloper.com
March 23, 201214 yr Hi,Our model railroad club (in San Diego's Balboa Park) has the same thing in the ceiling of our lower level. Whenever there are exposed steel beams present, they must be sprayed with a thick layer of fire insulation to avoid them softening during a fire. We have painted ours black to make them less obvious. :)Hope this helps, Tom Gibson CalClassic Propliner Page
March 23, 201214 yr This is not good, now the Hard Core simmers know what they look like. There may be trouble... :Nerd: FS2020 Alienware Aurora R11 10th Gen Intel Core i7 10700F - Windows 11 Home 32GB Ram NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super OC 16GB - Pimax Crystal Light VR

March 24, 201214 yr I hope the card deck means we are going to vegas after Alaska or later on . Image removed as image is no longer available.
March 24, 201214 yr LOLI seriously doubt they are as violent as you portrayed them to be (as a joke ofc) ;)They certainly can be verbally. Here is an excerpt from the beta forum by the community manager in response to JH's interview:"However. As Joshua said, these things do influence where and how much we engage. When I get an email that starts out by expressing hope that everyone on the dev team, and their families, die in a plane crash because they didn't put a feature in a piece of entertainment software, I reach the conclusion that the writer's opinion is not valid. I stop reading at that point, and I don't pass that info on to the dev team. If you want us to listen to what you have to say, being reasonably professional/adult about your feedback will ensure that it at least gets heard. (And that is very much an abstract "you" applying to the wider simmer audience, since the beta testers *have* been professional and adult.)"

Or maybe hopefully he was just using that as an example to make a point that certain feedback will not make it through the pipeline with verbal assaults... but that is pretty sad and bad... Don B

Or maybe hopefully he was just using that as an example to make a point that certain feedback will not make it through the pipeline with verbal assaults... but that is pretty sad and bad...Sadly, people of certain mind-sets actually do send such "feedback" to software developers who don't cater directly to their specific desires. They might never say such a thing to someone's face, but the don't hesitate in an email or on a forum.

March 24, 201214 yr *******.. That's awful. Stay classy keyboard warriors. No kidding, someone that does that over a game/sim for the pc? Basically a video game?? < I use that term not to bash any sim so to speak, it is just reality that what we do, with any game/sim we install and play on the pc, by broad definition is a video game>...If one has that kind of hate generated by something they do not like about a video game, they seriously are either mentally disturbed, or seriously need take a close look at their life.It is just really bad that a developer would even be sent an email such as that, by anyone. But enough about that - time to get back to having fun!! Or maybe hopefully he was just using that as an example to make a point that certain feedback will not make it through the pipeline with verbal assaults... but that is pretty sad and bad...I remember reading quite a few similar remarks on their Facebook Page before it was sanitized by the same Community Manager that cited that as an example.I would like to believe that most of them were made by pimple-faced, pre-pubscent adolescents... but honestly believe that they were written by some very severely disturbed adults. In all candor I have to admit that I too had some very unkind thoughts towards MSGS myself initially, but somehow managed to dredge up the maturity to not give voice to them in public. March 24, 201214 yr In all candor I have to admit that I too had some very unkind thoughts towards MSGS myself initially, but somehow managed to dredge up the maturity to not give voice to them in public.I am just frankly astounded that there would be folks in this great community that would do such a thing. And by great community I do not refer to the Avsim subscribers, but the community of flight simmers as a whole. I guess every computer game genre probably has folks like that in it, it is just hard for me to believe they actually say such things and probably some of them, actually mean what they say...Hat's off to you for exhibiting the maturity level to not give them voice to what they say. That is really the only way to handle such disturbing things. All kinds of folks in this world I guess. Don B
March 24, 201214 yr Moderator To be perfectly frank, some members here did express some pretty violent and vitriolic thoughts, albeit not nearly so horrific. It was embarrasing, and is the primary reason why the forum was closed for some weeks......and was only reopened after a great deal of thought. It's all preserved in all its shame for anyone who's stomach is up to the task of reading such garbage. Fr.
