March 25, 201214 yr Oh My! Just completed an upgrade to vesion 1.3 Academic. PMDG NGX performed flawlessly in version 1.2. Now unable load the NGX.Event viewer shows "PMDG_737NGX.DLL" to be the cause of the compatibility problem. Here's hoping that I've overlooked simple this time around and someone here can set me straight........

(grin)However, I think that I performed the same ritual installing the files into 1.3 as was successful in 1.2.Waiting now to see if anyone reports NGX operating successfully in 1.3 before digging any deeperin the problem.

March 25, 201214 yr Does the Prepar3D $49 Academic version have the ATC module? Or is it like FSX Standard version and you have to buy Deluxe to get ATC tower controller functionality, I.e., the $199 Prepar3D version?
March 25, 201214 yr The Academic version has multiplayer and you can host a session in a tower, so it is effectively the same as the super-duper deluxe version of FSX (although multiplayer is in fact one of the areas where P3D is better than FSX, since it has been improved and you don't get all that log into gamespy malarkey which as you probably know, is appallingly shaky in FSX). Just asking, because the sheer presence of DX11, 64bits and so on doesn't automatically establish software miracles.It's not like this small business lacks of promising announcements, noble goals and some promotional momentum. It's more like the outcome isn't always as overwhelming as expected and, sometimes, doesn't match the hype. :(I still use FSX, but the fact remains that unlike FSX, P3D is still being worked on, improved and expanded, and it already has features which FSX does not have; better multiplayer, underwater modeling, improved textures and scenery modeling in some areas, additional default aircraft.Nice read about the 'being worked on' thing, but if you load it up, it looks and behaves just like FSX. How come? You even need the same old tweaks and you experience the same old downsides on e.g. the memory usage, the AA in clouds and some 'not that real' weather system. Just to name a few which were ok with good ol' FSX but might not be on a 2012 purchased sim.Personal preference may decide of course, but since this mainly is a flight sim it would have been nice to see that 'worked on' topic really come to life on vital parts, not subtle ones. Where is that special mast and how come that, in your view, a P3D purchase helps and other sims or just sticking to the brave addon devs does not?Get those 50 Dollars to a not multi-billion company of your choice, maybe to some of those impressive one-man-shows, and you've done more for that small flight sim business than you can imagine. :( Just a suggestion.
