I haven't downloaded it. Makes no sense to me that the final version of Flight Simulator gave you a pretty good mesh of the whole world, expandable by Microsoft themselves, as well as outside 3rd party developers. A pretty good base of multiple planes including commercial jet liners... again expandable by Microsoft themselves and outside 3rd party developers.I agree with dburne.. no TrackIR support?? That's not even trying.Flight to me feels like a "Revenue Generator" project. The entire program is set up to get you to keep plugging in quarters. Now of course that's what they exist for. As one of the 3rd party developers explained on this very forum, MS was awfully interested in how much sales they were having for FSX during the developing phase of Flight. Microsoft didn't take the view of "Wow, 3 party is selling some software, we should offer more products ourselves to get some of that revenue!". They went 100% Microsoft only sales instead. That's how you end up with a P51 without a cockpit, instead of a Eaglesoft Citation X, PMDG 737 NGX, Flight One Mustang, or RealAir Turbine Duke.If Alaska is going to be the typical size of DLC packs, then it will take about 86 more to offer the entire planet... or about 3,600.00 dollars.Minus my computer, my entire investment into FSX is less then 600 bucks. 32 planes with hundreds of liveries, realtime weather, airports expansions, mesh expansions, Online world simulation in Vatsim and TrackIR.There simply isn't anything new or WOW in Flight to make the switch. FSX is far superior for now.

@HawkDsl, you are several months late for the "pity party." All the negatives have been regurgitated ad naseaum already...That is not the focus for this forum now.

I rest my case...

I apologize if that is how that came across.. I understood the thread as a discussion on the merits of Flight (from user point of view). I gave my comparison, and it certainly isn't a "Pity Party" comment. I quite enjoy my simulator.

This post may be flamed, it may even be removed - but I won't know because I won't be checking back.I've said my peice.I now go.Bye.CoolGunS
I don't have a problem with people who don't like Flight, or beer, or smoking, or whatever, but starting a new thread just to whine and then finishing by announcing that you have no intention to discuss the subject whatsoever that's just trolling.

To be picky, nope, that's not trolling. Technically, trolling, or more accurately 'trawling', is offering the appearance of an easy target so that when someone shoots at you, they reveal their position, so you can then shoot back. The etymology of the term derives from 'trawling for fire', which is what reconnaissance spotter planes used to do in order to make an enemy target reveal its location, by flying temptingly over terrain where it is suspected that an enemy is concealed - sort of the military equivalent of pushing someone, in order to start a fight. So if someone posts a thread and then does not hang around for the stuff it stirs up, instead of having a pop back, then it is not trolling. More accurately, kicking it off and then leaving would be described as '**** stirring'.Al

Dont know if i should take a poster with only one post seriously. If this guy/girl was hardcore than I am sure they would have more posts. This could be someone with another account?

On a side note, I don't understand why this is so sensitive a subject.Bottom line is, those who like it will play it. Those that don't, wont. No one is wrong or right in that regard.Onward to C90!

Before this thread was posted the member had to agree to the terms of posting within this Flight Forum as defined by Tom Allensworth, as follows.Quote:"You are about to post a new topic to the FLIGHT forum. FLIGHT has been released and this forum is now a support forum for its users. Whether MS was right, wrong or indifferent to the FS community is now water under the bridge. If your post is an attempt to re-open discussion of MS's rights or wrongs, it will be removed. If egregious enough, so will you. Your post can only be a request for support, a hint or help for others, or a resource for other FLIGHT enthusiasts to use."UnquoteIt seems to me that this thread violated both the spirit and the letter of these requirements, and that a promise was broken. Consequently I suggest it might be wise for these conditions be met in this thread from this point on, as this is a warning.

This post reads like what was in the old Avsim flight forum before it was locked. If you haven't done so, you should go read it. Read all of it. You'll find a lot of people you'll agree with.Then come back here and say, "I didn't think it was a problem, why was it locked?"
Bottom line is, those who like it will play it. Those that don't, wont. No one is wrong or right in that regard.
And those who have decided they won't like it and won't download it will still come here and complain about it.Hook

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;

wo of my favorite games turned me off at first, even with a couple of hours in each.
I won't discount your statement, because it's true-- sometimes you have to try things and give them a chance. But then there are times when you just know it's not your match. I have tried rhubarb on two occasions, and I don't care if you make a pie out of it or try to cover it up with something else, I'll never like it. We all have our threshold, and if his was an hour then he gave it a chance. Now the guy that doesn't even try something and bashes it... well then that is a different story!
We all have our threshold,
Two hours was my original threshold for The Sims and for X-Com. In both cases I'm really glad I went back and played more.The biggest difference was that I didn't go on dedicated game forums and complain about how pointless and boring the games were.Hook
