April 2, 201214 yr Hi Guys, I found a bug in the the CH Pedals that I worked around in the previous version. The problem was that, by default, Flight incorrectly assigns the X and Y axis (should be left and right brakes) of the pedals to the ailerons and elevator. Even if they are already assigned to the joystick. So if you move the rudder and use a little toe by mistake, you get all kinds of crazy erratic behavior. The fix is to delete the X and Y axis statements for the CH Pedals from the STANDARD.XML file. While I was at it... I tried assigning the X and Y axis to the left and right brake pedal functions. It did control each brake but so violently that taxiing was impossible. I had to delete them after all. I might try to play with the nonlinear, and sensitivity statements or ailerons and elevator to calm them down. Another option is to use the CH Control Manager to use a very nonlinear curve so that small variations of brake pedal can be made. But to the best of my knowledge... I got nothing in the previous version when I tried to assign the pedals. I'll stick with the keypad for now. <SimControls.Map> <MapName>CH Pro Pedals USB{F6946620-71B7-11E1-8001-444553540000}.{45AAD43A-A9BC-40E0-96BA-A3E3577BBE53}</MapName> <MapVersion>8</MapVersion> // <Axis> // <AxName>XAxis</AxName> // <Index>0</Index> // <EventName>Brakes.IncrementLeft</EventName> // <AxScale>1.000000</AxScale> // </Axis> // <Axis> // <AxName>YAxis</AxName> // <Index>1</Index> // <EventName>Brakes.IncrementRight</EventName> // <AxScale>1.000000</AxScale> // </Axis> <Axis> <AxName>ZAxis</AxName> <Index>2</Index> <EventName>FlightControls.RudderSetAxis</EventName> <AxScale>1.000000</AxScale> <AxNull>0.100000</AxNull> <NonLinear>True</NonLinear> </Axis>

April 3, 201214 yr OK... just trying help others. I'll think twice before I do that again. Hey Brian, Please do not think twice, while some may see things like this repeated due to their exposure on this forum for the last several days/weeks, that by no means assures that everyone possible has already seen this - posts like this are very helpful to those that perhaps have not seen that info as of yet, as well as newcommers to the program that have found their way to this great Avsim forum for Flight. Not to mention the search feature that comes up when someone a week later types the info in as well... Posts like yours that you obviously took your time to compose to share information you have learned, while may be old news to some, are never detrimental and usually helpful to at least some. Oh and it appears you are relatively new to the forums here, welcome aboard!! Don B
April 3, 201214 yr OK... just trying help others. I'll think twice before I do that again. Brian Hello Brian; I fully agree with what Don posted in regards to your answer to Alex. Welcome to the forums, and feel free to post whatever you feel and desire. The more input here, the better for all of us. Ramón. Time, is the one thing no one can buy.
April 3, 201214 yr Yes, please don't judge us all by a few. Thanks for posting some useful and relevant information.
April 3, 201214 yr Moderator Everyone knows that Thank you. Who are you to know that "everyone" knows any particular thing? Your comment was both rude and insensitive. Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
April 3, 201214 yr Everyone knows that Thank you. That kind of unjustified response is unacceptable here on AVSIM. You've been warned - any further stuff like this from you and you're gone! I've also taken the liberty of removing the '#####' from your display name - that too is unacceptable here! you're now only 'OMGBBQ32' OK... just trying help others. I'll think twice before I do that again. Brian I strongly encourage you to continue trying to help others and not be put off. Welcome to the AVSIM forums and thank you for your post!

April 3, 201214 yr Author Gee.. I didn't mean create such a stir... thanks for the support. Over the last 15 years or so, I have been an active member of at least two dozen forums... for restoring British sports cars, for Miata Racing and Clay Target Shooting, for PC related subjects and digital photography. These forums are the most valuable tool you can find for your hobby. All those forums did not tolerate foul language (including *** or abbreviations) and rude or nasty entries. Thanks again Brian
April 3, 201214 yr I've been around here for a pretty good while, and don't consider your question inappropriate. "The stir" it created only enforced the fact that AVSIM doesn't put up with someone being rude. I thank you for posting what you've found and look forward to more comments from you and all the other knowledgable members. Welcome aboard. To the person that responded in such a rude manner, Shame on you. Thank you. April 3, 201214 yr Agree that the comment was off! Following this problem for weeks, now..... any solutions!!
April 3, 201214 yr Following this problem for weeks, now..... any solutions!! Not yet, But devs said yesterday Toe Brakes will be fixed in a future update. Ramón. Time, is the one thing no one can buy.
April 3, 201214 yr Following this problem for weeks, now..... any solutions!! If you mean the lack of differential braking as an axis on the rudder pedal toe brakes, apparently not yet. I think the development cycle is still early enough that they're trying to figure out what all they need to put in the controls file. I'm fairly sure we'll eventually have working toe brakes.
