April 12, 201214 yr Moderator How exactly are you supposed to do ILS approaches when the guages dont work? If you have either the RV-6A or the Maule the gauges do work! :Hypnotized: Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
April 12, 201214 yr How exactly are you supposed to do ILS approaches when the guages dont work? Which gauges don't work? If you have the RV-6A or the Maule you can do all ILS landings in Hawaii. You don't need an AP to do an ILS or LDA landing. Ramón. Time, is the one thing no one can buy.
April 12, 201214 yr How exactly are you supposed to do ILS approaches when the guages dont work? I've been having a blast learning all about VOR (triangulation and all) and real life approach plates. I never approached a sim as realistic as MS Flight (and I've been flying on the pc since the eighties). As others have stated, with the Maule and RV-6A ILS works, but also VOR! It's a blast.
April 12, 201214 yr So, you interpret that everything that appears on the AVSIM Front Page is "promotional", is that right? Tom I think the problem is when AVSIM posts news of a release, it is usually a direct press release from the developer, who will obviously sing nothing but praises about their product. If the reader doesn't realize this, to them it does sound like AVSIM is endorsing their product. Maybe it would be a good idea to put a disclaimer at the top of the page, that these are press releases and nothing else. Just a suggestion. April 12, 201214 yr I've seen a lot of ridiculous items of selective outrage before, but this one has got to take the cake... Come on people give it a rest. Somebody is providing a product that they felt someone may have interest in buying. Buy it or do not, and move on. It's not as if the product description is deceptive. Somebody may like to have all those items packaged together for them by somebody else. What someone does with their time and money is their choice, and some folks in this thread have done nothing less than decry the product and anyone who would consider purchasing it. Because of this thread the product's producer has the potential to lose customers just because a few folks are feining outrage. It's ridiculous. April 12, 201214 yr How exactly are you supposed to do ILS approaches when the guages dont work? By tuning the radio to the correct frequency so that the gauges do work?
April 12, 201214 yr Commercial Member Who cares. If you are willing to pay for such products its your own problem, and Microsoft most likely could not care less. Seriously, you do not have to tell people what to buy and what not. And cockpitless planes made by MS are not any less useless than this product in my opinion. Or do you dislike all very limited possible third party development for Flight as it could take some money from huge evil megacorporation Microsoft? Maybe the problem for you is really lack of Microsoft as producer...
April 12, 201214 yr By tuning the radio to the correct frequency so that the gauges do work? The problem here, is if that one does not specifically fly say one of the RV ILS landing challenges, it is not real predominent that Flight actually has that capability? Unless one goes in and actually tries it for the heck of it, or sees it posted here on the forum as I did early on. I could easily see how many may have tried Flight for a brief time, and truly thought that capability did not exist within the program. Don B
April 12, 201214 yr I dunno... it seems to me that if somebody knows what they are, which a person would have have to know to be complaining about them not working, then they also know enough about them to be able to test them to see if they work, before complaining about them not working.
April 12, 201214 yr Good point Ramon, but just look at how many folks bought the P51 and did not realize it did not have a working cockpit.... Don B
April 12, 201214 yr I've seen a lot of ridiculous items of selective outrage before, but this one has got to take the cake... Come on people give it a rest. +100, I dropped by to see what this was about and was blown away. Why did a spend so much time reading this? I guess I can't believe sometimes how passionate folks get over stuff. Bryan Wallis aka "fltsimguy" Maple Bay, British Columbia Near CAM3
April 12, 201214 yr Two Microsoft guys responded to this news about "addon" on Steam forum: Just to be clear, this is not an official or approved expansion to Flight. Download at your own risk. and While I have no problem with folks creating this sort of thing I would not think it worth the cost. As already mentioned it is a collection of things that can be freely obtained. So, nothing to discuss, actually.
April 12, 201214 yr I love this point... "Scenic adventures over major Hawaian's point of interest. Those flights gives you the freedom to better explore the Hawaian's skies at your own pace"
April 12, 201214 yr Good point Ramon, but just look at how many folks bought the P51 and did not realize it did not have a working cockpit.... That's their pioblem. Microsoft made it absolutely clear that it didn't have a working cockpit. There is no way that people who can't be bothered to read and understand a product's description can be protected against their own foolishness, Gerry Howard
April 13, 201214 yr If only few hundreds of companies would be allowed to release something that interact with Flight we would much more happy. I encourage companies to follow the same road, we are waiting for you ! ( I know there is no SDK, I am dreaming here ) Caugh..Caugh.. PMDG..Caugh....AEROSOFT...Caugh...Caugh...
