I thought that my fellow simmers might find this interesting:

Great video, I couldn't understand why he configured for landing so early but he admitted he made a mistake. His A320 video is very good too.

Thanks

Rob Prest

Yeah, his stuff is quite good. It really explains most things.

Ships are cooler that you think.

Thanks for posting....very interesting!

It's a 45C simulated - to show the performance of the aircraft while losing an engine. Jet engines don't like high air temperatures!

Neither do the wings, as the video show, the climb performance is horrible.

"You win again gravity!"

"N1, thats the low-pressure compressor speed"? I thought that N1 was the Fan-rotation speed, is that the same? I am confused :P

Interesting to say the least.

I'm not a engine expert, but I think he is right about N1. The front fans (booster fans)are considered the low pressure section because this is where the air is initially compressed before entering the high pressure stage.

Trying to control heading with aileron,a big no-no.

Rudder only. Boeing wants no spoiler panels sticking up ,killing drag.

While I am sure he his a great guy,The thought of him going from school to the right seat of a 737 revenue flight does not give me the warm and fuzzys.

These guys should be out flying the mail, single engine IFR at night,If they don't bust their &@($*,Then after a couple thousand hours, then ok.

Because everybody who ever flew the big boys flew without errors right away? Come on...

Many would disagree, me included. I shall leave it at that...

As John said, it is the same. Low pressure compressor fan.

Didnt he mention that pilot should only use small inputs to avoid spoilers coming up? I think he did, but it was a while since I watched the video.

Btw. I think that BAA has its recruiting in check. Apparently this kind of videos do appeal to simmers and such, who can be considered a big portion of target audience.
