Buttkicker & NGX

You don't hear the buttkicker, you 'feel' it; its a great experience. Its an affordable option that raises the realism++

Hi matey,

Sure, but my understanding is that it still creates low volume bass... Or is this not the case?

  • Had the original "Buttkicker" for years... took everything to a new level by mounting all my hardware on a false floor! way to go! (see photo). Mounted the transducer onto a steel bar bolted inside on

I would buy one, but does it vibrate through the ground? Like, will my parents get annoyed downstairs with the banging or rumbling?

Rich you can take the sock off mine does not have you will see the plus and minus after you do that or just slice a little off with a razor blade near the 2 prongs there is a plus and minus sign there. Howard I use headphones all the time buttkicker only produces vibrations in chair make no difference.

Only if you turn it up to the extreme

Yeah I figured those are the locations for the plus and minus signs but thanks for confirming!

However I would still like to know the purpose of this sock and more importantly why it's not mentioned in the installation docs especially when it's hiding the plus and minus signs making it impossible for you to know how to insert the cable. For a product that in so many ways seem like a real quality product I wasn't too impressed by this miss on their part and I'm looking forward to hear from them because I sent the same question both to Simware where I bought the product and also to Buttkicker/Guitammer directly.

Does this BK replace my subwoofer ? I looked under my office-chair and it doesnt seem to have a round cylindre to attached this BK. What diameter should this be if a have to buy a new chair ?

I have a ASUS Premium X58D i7 motherboard with 7.1 onboard

Is it real that you can feel landings and takeoffs with the NGX?

Thanks

Michael Moe

Yes. See posting #69 for a fuller description of my experiences with BK and NGX

It has a split lead for your sound card, you plug your speakers/subwoofer in as normal and then attach the bk to the extra socket.

Yes it is that real, couldn't imagine flying without it, I customised the ground roll & touchdown wav files to enhance the low end frequency, rolling down the runway, selecting the gear and landing takes on a whole new dimension. Even the low end vibration as the engines come to life is amazing

didn't think it could get much better then trackIR a fast PC and large screen, however this is the icing on the cake

I still haven't received an answer regarding my plus / minus question but I think I have figured it out and will hook it up because I can't stand just looking at it anymore without actually trying it.

One more question though to you guys who already have it set up. I'm using a Creative Labs SB x-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Pro soundcard and to this I have a 2.1 Logitech speakers system connected to the green output jack. What I'm wondering now is what would be the best way to connect the Buttkicker, using the same output jack where I have my speakers connected or plug it in to the orange output jack as the installation instructions suggest resulting in the Buttkicker having it's own output jack since my speakers are connected to the green output jack.

Hi!

My didn´t have that "sock" over the connector, strange...

Just connect it, either way, nothing can happen. If you interchange + and -, the driver within the buttkicker itself will move in the wrong direction, meaning that it will move backwards instead of moving forwards with a signal applied. That might cause some loss in effectivness, but you can´t brake anything.

Go ahead and give it a try.

OK, so I now connected everything and tried the Buttkicker and it sure is an amazing experience to actually feel what happens. I haven't had the time to try a real flight yet with the NGX but I did try starting the engines and wow was it cool to feel them spooling up. Tomorrow I'll do a real flight to be able to also feel all other effect like using the speedbrakes, lowering and raising the gear etc...very much looking forward to it !! Only one minor issue to solve...find out a good way to stop the lever on my chair you use to lower and raise the chair to stop vibrating

Am thinking about buying one of these but how do you connect it up as I have a 5.1 surround system connected to the on board sound card via the optical s/pdif connector. I am not sure but does this override all the other outputs on the sound card ? Is anyone using a butt kicker with this setup ?

Thanks Paul

Have my seat mounted on a steel plate isolated on 4 air cusions with the buttkicker mounted underneath. Also have a 1000 watt amp driving it and it works outstanding. Have a steel shop to build so can seriously customize.

The buttkicker rocks with battlefield 3. Love the 'recoil' you can feel with the guns.

Chair vibrates when I'm in the heli or jet.

Just completed my first flight using the Buttkicker and all I can say is I never experienced anything more real in front of my computer, absolutely amazing!!! The one single thing I wish I would have felt more of from the Buttkicker was at touchdown, maybe someone who is skillful could improve the sound effect of this adding more low freq bass to it

Now I can't wait to do the next flight, wish I had time to jump back into the NGX right away and feel the engines spooling up, the vibrations when taxing and so on...WOW...!!!

Yeah it's a real game changer.

The spool up and t/o roll has to be my favorite.

Although just yesterday I was flying the md-11 and I could literally feel the gear doors closing at the same time I heard the 'bump bump'

Unreal.

Sent from my iPhone...typing errors imminent
