Blackbox Airbus

Recommended Posts

It knows how to climb (if not THAT good), it doesn't draw SIDs and STARs correctly on the ND, it doesn't know how to descend AT ALL but it works good overall. I'd say it's a step forward from WILCO's version, but not much ahead. The exterior model, for whoever cares, is very very poor, worse than WILCO's. I solved that by using PA's models. As for the virtual cockpit, it's very very good and functional even though the clickspots need reviewing.

I can say i'm happy with it, if the price is the same for the final (extreme). If we have to pay more for it, i think it's expensive unless all the family comes to dinner (A318, A319, A320, A321).

And, the A-340-300, 500, 600. Why bother with the small one when you can get the real deal-- the big boys ?

I have submitted a request for a refund since they haven't lived up to their end of the bargain:

PURCHASE PRICE INCLUDES REGULAR BI-WEEKLY SERVICE UPDATES AS WE INCREASE FUNCTIONALITY TOWARDS THE X'TREME

An update hasn't been released since June 21st, way past bi-weekly I'd say.

Not heard back from them yet. Of course last time I submitted a ticket I didn't hear back either. I may just have to go through PayPal.

This is the reply I have received from BBS so far:

This information NEVER APPEARED at Pre order stage when you purchased so it cannot possibly be a valid reason as it wasn’t promised to you .

I do remember reading that statement when I pre-ordered. They seem to be back-peddling their statement. Everyone might want to get their requests in now before they remove it from their website.

Wow some things never change.

Indeed. The leopard it would appear has not changed its spots.

PSS used to be one of, if not the premier developer of airliner addons for MSFS. I've purchased just about everything they produced, and back in the day of FS2000 and FS2002 I must have logged hundreds of immensely enjoyable hours in their 777v1 and v2, 747-400 and A320. However, after the A320 things started to go downhill and the two last major releases they made - the 777 and 757 were an utter shambles.

I pre-ordered the 777 in 2005 and the release was a mess. When the 757 was announced they promised they had learned the lessons from the 777 release and would make a better job of it with the 757. I pre-ordered the 757 because PSS were one of my all time favourite developers and I wanted to believe they would get it right. Once again the 757 release was another debacle.

All of which is exactly why I will not touch anything from Black Box unless it gets an overwhelmingly positive feedback from the users. It's a shame really because as I said, PSS used to be a big favourite of mine.

Then of course there's the huge caveat emptor that goes with buying any MSFS addon on a promise that features will be added later on. History has shown time and time again that once they've got your money those features will not materialise for a very long time, if at all.

I'm sorry but these people are absolute cheats and I think Avsim should post a very bold warning on their front page regarding this company and their business practices. I took a look at their website and saw the bi-weekly updates promise with my own eyes as did many people here. What this response amounts to is a blatant piece of self-serving deceipt and it proves the level of greed and dishonesty we can expect from this group.

I just hope there are a lot of members reading this thread so that they don't lose money on this ploy.

I owned the pss 777 for fs9, and it was a great plane in its time.

After the company dissolved I remember the fiasco of customers learning they had no access to the product they paid for because the server managing the installers was taken offline.

I also remember the absolute lack of help we got from then-pss.

That put such a sour taste in my mouth, it doesn't matter how godly this product sums up to be...I'm steering clear of it and these particular developers.

I won't be bitten twice. -_-
