I did some preliminary testing, and overall I must say this looks to be a big help! I only had time to test at UK2000 Heathrow where I noticed a moderate jump (5-10 fps) in performance that allowed me to get playable fps out of the default loading of the NGX. I will need more time to test, but for others out there with horribly underpowered systems, this might just be the thing we need to get by. Thank you for all of your work!

Hi Steve,

Don't know if I am the only one or one of my settings is incorrect.

Nvidia card btw, default scenery.

Only problem left I see is the smoke coming out of the chimney stacks flashes a lot.

Other wise works like a dream.

Hi trev,

Is that with the latest change in the thread above or the version from the avsim library?

I thought I saw a flashing cloud today which might be related.

Steve

Steve,

Using Shader Release v2.0 avsim library.

Seems to be any smoke ie: I have a scenery that has Barbie smoke that does the same thing.

Cheers

I think you have the same problem Jean-Paul Mes was discussing above. Smoke is an effect and there is a DX10 bug which carries over properties - normally with "lights" but actually they are just coloured shapes like smoke in FSX scenery terms. So I woudl guess that they are flashing in time to your plane beacon?

Turning the plane lights off will probably make the smoke disappear. Its a subject I am working on. I posted some complicated instructions for fake lights but if I were you I would wait a few weeks as there may be a better way

Just wanted to thank you for all your work ! Man you deserve a medal. You fixed so many things that's insane.

I may ask something else. Do you think you could understand why nvinspector AA filtering are not working in DX10 ?... I may say this is one of the major problem of DX10. We are unable to enhance FSX using ANISTROPIC AND ANTI ALIASING filtering settings in NVINSPECTOR

My belief is that DX10 uses 4X AA and 16x Anisotropic

You can increase the AA to 8x by inserting the following entry into the [Graphics] section of fsx.cfg

MultiSamplesPerPixel=8

With AMD you can then enhance to 8xEQ with CCC, I imagine that you can enhance with NVI In the same way but you need to use enhanced modes that have 8 base samples.

With AMD you can also change to SSAA in CCC if your graphics card is up to the job.

Pmanhart said that you can do the same thing in NVI as well.

So you should be able to set DX10 to any level of AA that you desire.

I`ve had a go at this, but results with UK2000 EGLL show a strange overlay problem with the runways.

Steve

Just to say the latest version does fix all the car headlights.

Great to hear you're looking at the smoke and lights problem.

Thanks

Peter

Hard to describe without a screenshot, but on "top down" view, you can see rwy markings underneath the existing rwy.

But in DX9 is fine? You are seeing this during the day?

I can see a problem at dusk/dawn with the extreme version (but not the free) I think perhaps that the day and night textures are misaligned so that the fade between them shows two sets of markings - I will look more when I have time - but is that the problem you are referring to? As Tomaz asked is it ok in the day?

This does sound like what I have.

I think I might have to revert back to DX9, as I only fly online, and the traffic I installed are not compatable with DX10. :(

Thank you for your help ! Everyone should have donated for all you have done so far...
