DX10 Flashing Runways - Experimental Shader

Featured Replies

Your rig is similar to mine, and I have no tearing, so - no, not if we can do it via Inspector. What are your Inspector settings, Mark?

My belief is that DX10 uses 4X AA and 16x Anisotropic

You can increase the AA to 8x by inserting the following entry into the [Graphics] section of fsx.cfg

MultiSamplesPerPixel=8

With AMD you can then enhance to 8xEQ with CCC, I imagine that you can enhance with NVI In the same way but you need to use enhanced modes that have 8 base samples.

With AMD you can also change to SSAA in CCC if your graphics card is up to the job.

Pmanhart said that you can do the same thing in NVI as well.

So you should be able to set DX10 to any level of AA that you desire.

Trying to avoid the blurry FXAA or SMAA injector, I've tried many different nVidia Inspector settings in efforts to get AA forced but to no avail. I think Inspector needs a proper compatibility flag setting. Anyone know what it should be set to?

In any outside view, I'm getting a square red shaded light pattern on my outside strobe lights with DX10, is there a fix for this?

I would try a default fsx.cfg after applying the DX10 fix. If required, tweak up from there. The mod is going great on my system.

Nice repaint!

Thanx for the link.

Here are my NI settings. Any comments appreciated.

Well., it looks quite correct, Mark - although I didn't notice that you are running in Window'd mode, aren't you. I believe that the Nvidia 1/2 refresh rate is only applicable when in Full Screen mode, so it looks like you need to suck it up (as it takes two or three frames) and insert this below: (under [Graphics] )

ForceWindowedVsync=1

I think that's the correct syntax. Stick it in, run FSX and let us know! (if someone notices that it actually is the wrong syntax - please post the correction!!!

In order to get VSync working in windowed mode, Aero has to be restarted as well. For instructions, please read Word Not Allowed's guide:

Actually no I always fly in full screen mode.

Hmmph... I always fly in the VC, too, Mark, but I wasn't aware that you could undock an FMC or other panel into a second monitor whilst still in the VC. I'm still flying the Maddog, entering the FP data directly into the FMC by pushing my head closer to it, using TrackIR.

It's unusual that you should experience tearing with your NI settings.

I Have no problems with my DX10 AA settings (after inclusion of this "Experimental Shader" ).

Thanks Steve for your help. It now works. It's amazing how many more FPS you can get in DX10. I had forgotten. This is a great fix for the flight sim community!

Best regards,

Jim

i tried this shader fix, while yes it worked, i am getting better fps in dx9 rather than dx10...am i doing something wrong?

Paul,

Thanks for your comments, I will try again and see if things have changed. As for undocking that is something I have done since FS2002 and it is one of the best things to do as you have access to your FMC and many times your radios without having to look down.

Some people get better FPS, some not. I guess it depends on you video card display settings as well as your fsx config settings. I have found that overclocking your system will provide better fps too. All system and fsx configuration settings are not the same for everyone.

Best regards,

Jim
