Is MS testing the market?

Featured Replies

Just an idea, but seems to be conclusive.

1. Lots of people complaining about cockpitless airplanes

2. P-51 Redtail is given away for free: MS counting utilization (?) to see if it is the prize or just the fact of having no cockpit that people are complaining.

3. Alaska will be released with another free cockpitless aircraft: Upgradable to Deluxe for a few bucks (?) Then they will have a clue about the situation.

4. No idea until now...

Just want to know to complete my conspiracy idea  what is the most selling aircraft on XBOX Live in your country?

To get the info you need to go to:

marketplace.xbox.com/xx-XX/Product/Microsoft-Flight/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d8044d5308d2?downloadtype=GameAddon&SortBy=BestSelling

for xx-XX enter your language-country code, like en-US, de-DE..

What i found so far:

USA:Redtail P51 followed by P-51

Germany: Maule followed by Redtails P-51

France: Maule followed by Redtails P-51

Portugal: P-51 Redtail followed by Maule

Canada: P-51 Redtail followed by Maule

Spain: P-51 Redtail followed by Maule

Brazil:P-51 Redtail followed by Maule

UK: P-51 Redtail followed by Maule

Italy:P-51 Redtail followed by Maule

...

Conclusion: So far only amerians bought more cokpitless airplanes then deluxe. Maybe MS didn`t thought about all the other markets worldwide who don`t accept cockpitless aircrafts? Maybe they are not thinking international but only american way?

I don't make the slightest idea regarding Portugal.

There is a huge community of fsx users around here, and a growing number of xplane users too. DCS p-51 is also making it's way accross the sim market....

I don't know what MS is doing now with Alaska, Will wait and see/decide....

For now, all I can say is that I really expected a VC aircraft to be released with Alaska, or at least some hint of VCs being released as separate DLCs...

Unhappy, to say the least... :-(

Flying gliders since 1980

AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)

UK is showing P-51 followed by Maule. Zero & P-51 Redtail are third and fourth.

Give people power to really test their personality.

Don`t mix up Preview`s with real aircraft!

I updated the list in first post!

Big company's in my experience tend to parse numbers as to fit whatever conclusion they have already decided is the right one.

So while people like getting a free toy aircraft, the most popular aircraft to buy is the Maule. Doesn't surprise me, especially since only the Maule can do the vast majority of missions.

There's no place like this place, so this must be the place.

I guess we see another advantage for Microsoft for the "gated" no third party approach. We are only upset, to varying degrees because there is no choice as to the type of planes available. I have purchased some cockpitless planes, but it was purely from curiosity or boredom rather than desire.

Were other choices available, I suspect we would all be chuckling and ignoring the living pooh out of these cockpitless planes. (controversy averted)

It was once said that if Microsoft wanted to really test the market, they would offer dual versions of their planes and see which one sold better. This was acknowledge to be logical by a mod on the beta site, yet that choice has never been offered.........

We know what is being tested in the market - its patience.

I very often said things about the gameplay available (or not...).

If MSF team want to try the market, it seem obvious that people are

1/ ok for one cockpitless airplane to buy and they are pleased to get one for free,

2/ Less people are ok for two or more of them

3/ The major part of buyers are buying the Maule BECAUSE there are many things to do with (that is gameplay).

What is left to test is :

1/ a cockpitless bird WITH ADDITIONNAL GAMEPLAY

2/ what would be the release of an addon cockpit for let's say, the F4U even without more gameplay for it

3/ see other full VC cockpit sales, as it's hard to compare Maule sells to any other VC full plane WITH missions and things (there is none so far :( ).

Looks like the Corsair is a dud. The free plane leads the list followed by one you can actually fly.

Looks like the Corsair is a dud. The free plane leads the list followed by one you can actually fly.

Even when you save the best for the last of a crappy series, it's doomed to be a dud in sales simply because it's a crappy series.

Everyone willing to tolerate some cockpitless warbirds already had a couple by the time they got around to the F4U. Nothing short of a cockpit could have saved it. There would be no point in them buying yet another one.

Of course, a cockpit would have made it the best selling warbird by far, but that's a different story.

Me too. I feel it has everything I need......speed, very agile etc..........

MS need to release something faster now with more passeneger carrying capabilities.

I live in hope ! lol
