This is the reason I have mixed feelings about the logging of stats. Once you start having stats, people start feeling like they need to tell everybody how they need to play. This is because they think they might be cheating up their stats. I think that is pretty silly.

...flight attendant

LMAO!

My most memoriable flight was back in FS9. I used to be a part of a group of bush flying VAs and every year we would have a rally. All participants would take off from where the previous flyer landed, fly at leach 100 n miles, had to be realistic in your flight including real weather and had to file a detailed pirep including images. I flew out of Port Hardy, British Columbia in the Flight1 cessna 421 to Ketchikan AK. In real life there was a massive cold front coming down from the north and i was trying to plan it to get there before it hit. Needless to say I was off and I flew into the front IFR half way there. 3+ hours at my desk with yoke and pedals and white knuckles all the way in, LOL.

Did you have the Misty Fjords scenery for Ketchikan? I flew around that area for months and moths with some other fliers that had it.

Depending on what you folks say about missions/jobs after the release

I agree with this - one of the great things about this forum is that people are (mostly) not afraid to share their opinion. While I loved the actual flying I did in Alaska, and would love to "refly" it in Flight, my purchase decision will be based on feedback from this forum. Can't justify purchasing this pack for scenery alone...unless the price is a lot lower than I think it will be.

There's a huge problem here. How much will Avsim let us objectively discuss without locking threads and banning people if they say something? I'm surprised they haven't shut people down for talking about yet another cockpitless aircraft (the Carbon Cub)...

From my observations over time:

So long as people are civil and polite to one another...

...are not insulting anyone or anything...

...are offering facts and informed opinions...

...are not simply dredging up a topic of discussion that's already been overdone to death, again and again and again...

...and are not posting topics that would fit better in other forums...

...threads tend to stay open.

But don't take that as gospel. It's just how it seems to me.

I think Avsim realizes that there are some members of the forums on this website that are more than unhappy about Flight being the latest MS simulator, and would be pretty happy to see it crash land and disappear. I think it further frustrates some folks, when they read that newcomers to Flight really enjoy flying in it, and many of these happy users are former FS9 and FS10 fliers. So Avsim is most likely trying to limit the Flight bashing simply for the sake of bashing a product that the basher wants to see go away. Same thing happened when FS9 and FSX came along , if I remember correctly. In fact, when FSX came out, with just a few planes and very little add-ons at the time, there were days and days of critical comments about FSX and Microsoft, and how PC Simulation was doomed to failure. Then when some of the updates and SP's came out, there was another round of complaining. Sound familiar?

Look at the activity, just on the Avsim forums. FSX has been out for many years, Flight was released just a few months ago, and the number of posts on the Flight forum is almost 10% of the FSX forum. That, to me, shows alot of interest in this new Sim.

I seem to remember performance being the hottest topic of FSX when it came out.

I have high hope for Flight. I will probably do most my flying in Alaska as I am not a huge fan of Hawaii (the small islands being the reason). I actually flew around Alaska in FSX. I kind of hope they finish out North America and then move to Europe.

Flight has been on the market for a few months now. Some people who hated it, are beginning to like certain aspects of the game. Others who loved everything about it now have some questions about things like no VC's. I think people/opinions aren't as polarized (if that's the right word) as they were in the beginning. I have a lot of faith in our members: I like to believe and sincerely hope that they will be able to discuss all aspects of Flight in a civil and mature manner.

You and others might have noticed a few less sticky posts on the first page of this forum. And the lack of a warning before starting a new topic. Let's ALL try to keep it that way!

this ^ and what Robo said are both true - this forum has "settled down" somewhat - negative opinions and thoughts seem to be expressed in a more civil (dare I say "forum like") manner.

I was "chasing the stats" for a while until the missions just started feeling all the same. At two million and change now, I just want to do interesting stuff on different airports. Looks like Alaska will keep me busy for a long time.

There's no place like this place, so this must be the place.

i would add - cub and cockpit would have been much better !!

I knew a guy that flew for a Virtual Airline with FS9. He would take off in is Level D 767, set the auotpilot for a flight from JFK to Brussels, and then go to bed, setting his alarm clock to 20 minutes before ETA. Wake up, drink some coffee and land. Hand flying time total was about 2 minutes.

Just like what a real commercial pilot would do!
