June 23, 201213 yr Ok so I have commented on a couple of other threads, however since I pushed very heavily and encouraged as many folks as I could to email the Flight Team early on, of our desires to get Track IR support implemented into Flight, I felt it deserved it's own thread. So a big Thank You for listening to us, a section of what some might call hard core simmers, or at least hard core enough to have Track IR for our flight sims. I have very much enjoyed Flight for what it offers since release, but always had that lacking feeling - that feeling of going back several years in flight sims, to where we did not have Track IR. It makes such a large difference for me, now I can enjoy flying a plane in Flight to the fullest, like I do in my other flight sims. Just looking around at the beautiful scenery, without having to use a pov hat, is so very nice. Or leaning forward for a better look at the gauges. So thank you again for listening to the community, both in Track IR support and also in enabling toe brake axis for those that have them on their rudder pedals - which I have now as well since getting my new Saitek Combat Pedals. I feel at least from a hardware/perhipheral perspective, Flight is now complete for me. Don B
June 23, 201213 yr Ah that was your doing was it . Seriously, thanks for that. It's just a big shame there is no feedback from the devs here or anywhere to acknowledge this. Steve Smith i7-2600K - GTX580 - 8GB ram
June 23, 201213 yr Author Ah that was your doing was it . Seriously, thanks for that Nope, I am not taking credit for anything at all - I was very vocal early on in encouraging everyone that wanted to see it implemented, to take the time to send the Flight Team an email stressing their desire to see it get implemented. But the community - the whole community here and other places, is what got this done - that, and the Flight Team listening to us! Don B
June 23, 201213 yr Good post, Don, particularly since the TrackIR users and the rudder pedal owners are most likely a very small minority of the users. The devs made an effort to satisfy them even when these features were never a priority for them. Best regards. Luis Hot, humid Caribbean paradise!
June 24, 201213 yr It feels like I'm in the twilight zone reading this...kudos for what? Getting the break pedals to work? Track IR? Fantastic!
June 24, 201213 yr Track IR really makes a difference in this sim. I had it in FS versions but it never worked that well and I stopped using it altogether. With flight and the New Track IR software version 5, it is awesome.....
June 24, 201213 yr It feels like I'm in the twilight zone reading this...kudos for what? Getting the break pedals to work? Track IR? It helps if you've been reading the forum for a while. For the longest time, dburne mentioned TrackIR in at least 2 posts out of 3, no matter what the main subject of the post. He also encouraged everyone to contact Microsoft to get TrackIR implemented. Considering the miniscule market for TrackIR compared to the total market for Flight, the fact that Microsoft was willing to do the work to implement it says a lot for their willingness to work with the established simmers. If anyone remembers the video someone made with TrackIR in Flight a few weeks ago, how likely is it that MS didn't have to do anything but buy the existing implementation from the guy who did it? Depending on who owned what and where the guy worked, it may be that it was a freebie to MS. Not that it matters, we still get TrackIR for those who want it. Hook Larry Hookins Oh! June 24, 201213 yr Commercial Member It feels like I'm in the twilight zone reading this...kudos for what? Getting the break pedals to work? Track IR? Fantastic! This stuff was not needed for the "target market", so yes, we do need to thank them. Both features are 100% geared for "hard core" simmers since casual pilots dont even know what the two things even are! Kevin Miller 3D Artist and developer

Both features are 100% geared for "hard core" simmers since casual pilots dont even know what the two things even are! It's a Flight "simulator" for heavens sake. Brakes are somewhat integral to stopping and controlling an airplane while on the ground. Trees and other solid objects work too, but not as elegant as brakes. Both of you (Hook and Kevin) know better than "apologizing" for stupid stuff like this.
June 24, 201213 yr I'm not sure I understand your logic toedv. They are thankful for a feature that was originally not planned to be implemented in Flight given its target audience. June 24, 201213 yr I just got my TIR and am very pleased with it, however, it's a waste of space with basic aircraft - we need more deluxe planes to make full use of it. I love flying the Zero but can't use TIR with it. Come on MS give us more deluxe planes. PLEASE... Blackrat
June 24, 201213 yr TIR is fantastic with the Stearman, it's completely changed Flight for me. I always liked the scenery, but it's much more 'real' using TIR. I wonder if MS can track who's using TIR to see how many people they've made happy? It's completely separate to Flight, but the sheer amount of panning in the cockpit would give it away if they're tracking that much detail.
June 24, 201213 yr Yep, although I never had TrackIr (I'd like, but it's too expensive and wouldn't be useful to my other half...) I did have CH and Saitek TM rudder pedals before quiting simulation a few years ago, and I am now seriously considering getting the Saitek just for MS FLIGHT... Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)
June 24, 201213 yr Yep, although I never had TrackIr (I'd like, but it's too expensive and wouldn't be useful to my other half...) Thankfully, my other half is into auto racing. She gave me a hard time when I got TIR, between the cost and wearing "that silly thing" on my head... until I informed her that it works in racing sims, too. She said "What? Plug in my MOMO wheel!" I fear I am going to have to buy a second TIR to get her off my computer (she has her own).
