I think it's crazy to think how mad the forums (I suspect) were this time last year. Was only a few weeks of the NGX release! I remember when I saw the screen shots in March I was convinced this would release by June ha! So wrong..

 

Wow, you really are new to this, aren't you? The thing with this company is, their products won't be released in a few months. The 744X took a year and a half of work to go from FS9 to FSX. The NGX was in progress for a few years ( at least to my knowledge). I think more December 2012-March 2013 to be honest.

I think its safe to say that until the jet hits beta we probably won't see any previews.

Yeah I don't expect to see the 777 released before 2013, a mid 2013 release wouldn't surprise me.

I only think it could release this year due to the fact Rob said basically if it wasn't for people needing time off/away he was expecting to have it in beta late this month! Hey we can all have dreams ^_^

Yea, when he announced that, I too was expecting a quick release. Beta was meant to start in march wasnt it? Beta can take how long?

The Avsim post is what made me believe that too. But then I learnt it was just a speculation ha. All we can hope for is a smooth quick beta stage :P

I thought the NGX beta was going to be pretty short cause Rob mentioned when they go to beta the product is already close to final product but if I remember correctly the NGX beta did last a fair while. Unexpected things come up and I heave learnt delays in software development is very commonplace.

Beta shouldn't (touch wood) be as long as it was foe the NGX because they had to work out the kinks in their new platform... now that's done it's just tweaking the aircraft as opposed to the underlying structure.

Just out of interest, how do PMDG go about telling you it's been released? A topic about it or what? Or do they schedule a release a few days prior?

Judging from the NGX release, they will let us know a week or so before, and then if all goes well we will have up to date info here on the forums. If I recall, a week or two before we learned the release date, they told us how much it will cost, so that could be a good gauge for it. But you never know- they might surprise us this time.
