OpusFSX

Featured Replies

I bought OpusFSX yesterday and finally (together with REX) the weather looks really realistic.

I just have one question though. When I switch on DHM and I am taxiing, when I make a corner the view automatically moves to the left/right, depending on how much I use the rudder.

I don't want his to happen (and I don't use TrackIR), but I would like the dynamic head movements when taking off, braking, turbulence, etc.

Is there anyway to do this?

Does anyone have a video of thier live camera setup and using it? Mine is very jerky, even though precision is on in trackir. Its stuttering all the time.

Or perhaps a profile to upload that i can try for the ngx.

Thanks

Stephen,

Thanks for all your advice on this forum. Very few, if any, developers provide this level of support for their customers, let alone those who are just potential customers.

I run a triple monitor set up in FSX/W7x64; 670GTX; i7 overclocked and liquid cooled. I wanted to use 2D forward left and right outside views but with Nvidia Surround this is not possible. My goal is to get a 2D view on all screens, and that is one reason Opus interests me.

To keep it simple, what follows refers to a single monitor system. With a default plane in FSX (or FS9) forward left and right views opened from inside the cockpit with the hat switch or keyboard commands are 'virtual'. Some FS9 addon planes have 2D forward left and right views coded. These differences are obvious from the panel.cfg in the various planes.

Am I right in thinking that Opus will provide 2D forward left and right views even when these views are not written in the panel.cfg of the aircraft in question? In other words, that outside 2D views can be 'created' using customising camera views?

Back to triple monitors now. Many aircraft developers these days, notable Carenado, no longer produce 2D cockpit views. Will I be able to create these, one on each monitor (fwd left, centre cockpit, fwd right) if I buy Opus?

Is there no way to adjust it with the keyboard and mouse freely positioning as well?

It is impossible to read the current eyepoint in FSX so such a mechanism would not be possible without taking full control of the mouse etc. Our policy is not to interfere with FSX at all unless absolutely necessary.

Try the new version and let us know if there is an improvement. I assume you have set up TrackIR as per the user guide and are not using Affinity mask since this has a detrimental effect on OpusFSX performance.

You can configure the Automatic Head Movements (including the Use Rudder Option). The dialog can be found via the DHM options in the Camera dialog.

outside 2D views can be 'created' using customising camera views?

Yes you just select the 2D view type and set the six degrees of freedom for the eye position and zoom factor, assign a joystick button or keyboard key to the view and save it. It doesn't matter whether the aircraft manufacturer provides 2D views or not, OpusFSX provides custom views for your own use.

when is the winds aloft part expected to come out, at the moment when i fly online with fellow pilots, the upper winds are a problem so i am unable to use Opus due to the large difference in winds speeds, at the moment the upper winds over Europe are around 80-90 kts where as Opus only gives me a rough estimate of 30 kts

Hi Dave

The LWE development is ongoing and we will be starting winds aloft very soon but can't give a firm date.

I know this is an FSX issue, BUT...has anyone figured out a way to get true IMC overcast down to minimums while using live/real weather? (i mean where you won't break out of the lowest cloud layer before the Metar's ceiling)

Yes, we just have and will post the update tomorrow some time.

really?? sounds like pretty big news, tell more!

will it work in the demo (if i redownload it again tomorrow)?

...was also curious which source you use for downloading Opus's metars? (NOAA, Jepp, some other service, etc.)

Yes, we just have and will post the update tomorrow some time.

We use NOAA at present but we are going to add others and let users select the preferences and order of priority. Yes, the upgrade will work in the demo but of course you will have to generate the weather while you are on the ground (demo limitation). I've got a few other things to prepare and test tomorrow so hopefully will have the upgrade posted in the afternoon (UK time).
