OpusFSX

Hi Dave,

Obviously if you USE two camera programs like Opus and EZCA at the same time you will create a problem. But if Opus is not active (LCC unchecked) then the HKselect=4 isn't used by Opus and the Opus camera definitions are just there in case you activate Opus LCC.

I had EZCA running before, but desactivated it (EXE html doc disable=true). It doesn't make sense to me to activate it just for the purpose of checking. I don't like the artificial wobbling of the cameras. Also EZCA is taking possession of far too many keyboard functions and view commands, whilst Opus doesn't claim any keyboard key or button.

Did you already purchased the software? If not you can try it yourself without any risk because of the 30 days money back guarantee.

yes ive tried it in the demo version and I can confirm that the entry made by opus renders all exterior aircraft oriented cameras created by ezdok useless...basically it creates havock with the ezdok cams (the vc doesnt seem to be effected though).

...not a wise choice IMO, but oh well...its his choice/his software...but left this way lets just say it's simply not for me and leave it at that.

I may be misunderstanding something (and I certainly hope I am dead wrong) but it appears that EZdok users must STOP using their ezdok software if they want to purchase and use Opus (even if you dont want to use Opus cameras you're ezdok cameras will not function properly once Opus is installed).

I have been using Opus with EZdoc without any problems whatever. I think if you try to use EZDoc and Opus Live Camera together you might run into problems though.

well if you read the post right above yours, i dont see how you got it to work (unless as i said you were only using vc cams). Go ahead and load some external aircraft cams created by ezdok and please report back with how you are getting it to work.

Folks,

I use a registered version of OpusFSX for its weather engine (Live Weather Engine (LWE)) while continuing to use EZdok to manage FSX cameras without any difficulty whatsoever. And this despite the fact that I've tested OpusFSX's Live Camera feature which resulted in my aircraft configuration files being written to and have not deleted such entries under the heading [CameraDefinition.899] which permits me to test newly offered features without having to start from scratch. You won't encounter conflicts so long as OpusFSX's Live Camera and EZdok are not running concurrently.

not true for me..not at all...you DO understand the difference between a VC cam, Aircraft cam, and world cam, no?...tell me the Opus cfg entries don't effect your ezdok "aircraft" cams and then Ill just wait until Stephen returns to explain exactly how you accomplished this small miracle...since noone else seems to be able to technically explain that.

I also find it interesting how you address your statement to"folks" (in an almost protective/defensive way), when it's clearly me who's brought it up in this thread and would be the one requiring the assistance. Perhaps you should go read Stephen's explanation about all this over at Simforums. In fact here ya go, read it for yourself since it appears you may not understand what the different ezdok cams are and how opus is incompatible...straight from the horse's mouth:

"

The two packages are not interchangeable due to the EZCA software design" AND "

I am not prepared to work around EZCAs problems or failings"

http://www.simforums...topic43075.html

As I said...opus' cfg entries (unless removed) render my ezdok "aircraft" catagory cams useless. If anyone has a simple work around they can explain to me so this is not an issue then I'm all ears. There's a very simple work around opus could provide as explained by Jean-PaulM in that thread but opus refuses to do it.

Thanks!

Disable Mist effect is ticked on by default within the weather options; anyone suggest enabling mist for a more realistic weather effect?

Try it and see? You can always turn the Disable back on again if you don't like it...

Have to say, being a brand new user of OpusFSX (just bought it last night) the weather engine is FAN-TOTALLY-TASTIC!!! So easy to set up, so quick to sort out the weather in-sim, and such realistically changing weather conditions as I snuck under a low overcast between Cheyenne and Laramie and popped out into a lovely pale blue cumulus-scattered sky... (pale blue sky and other textures courtesy of REX Essentials).

Thanks Stephen!

We have released version 2.24.1 which will tidy up the Cameras.cfg and aircraft cfg files. In the Configure dialog when you tick the Enable Live Camera Control checkbox and restart the server program the files will be configured. When you uncheck the Enable Live Camera Control checkbox and shutdown the server program the Cameras.cfg and aircraft.cfg files will be tidied.

We don't change hotkeyselect=4. You can continue to use EZCA but I think you are missing out on real world DHM effects.

When on the main FSX screen on the weather tab, what do I click. I have always used real weather udated every 15 minutes or do I need to use user defined? Also with the weather engine working, the sky seems to be a little too blue for comfort

Just disable the FSX weather updating. The Sky textures are not altered by OpusFSX, it will be a REX setting.

I'm still getting sometimes sudden wind changes. The airplane shakes quite a lot and then returns back to normal. It's like i'm getting 90kts tailwind, then changes rapidly to 90kts headwind and back to 90kts tailwind.

I'm not sure this is what's happening, as it happens so fast i only see the plane shaking. Just wanted to let you know.

Can I make a suggestion? Now that Opus has its own forum here, might it a good idea to break out the individual topics into other threads? At 15 pages, this is getting quite cumbersome if you're looking for something that's been discussed. Not wanting to step on toes...

Cheers

Thanks for the feedback. That's strange, what version of OpusFSX are you using and what aircraft ?

Cheryl

I am using version 2.24.1 and happens with any aircraft. Right now flying PMDG's 747 already happened 2 times enroute. I'm still stunned at the depiction, i've never seen weather like this and to me this minor "wind" issue is the only thing left to solve here :) Oh and maybe a bit of turbulence now and then

I'm not sure this is what's happening (...)

I can now confirm (in this case) that i'm getting 50kts tailwind, then all of a sudden it drops to near zero and then all of a sudden back to 50 again. Just witnessed this happening now FL390.
