Latin VFR Bermuda released

Featured Replies

Is this going to be one of those expensive weekends? Have just bought the newly released update for Rio Galeao and have just found that Latin VFR have released their Bermuda scenery. The scenery is apparently for the whole island and is quite good value considering both FS9 and FSX versions are included. I am however a little concerned that whilst the FSX version clocks in at 525MB, the FS9 version is only 40MB! This surely can't just be down to 'birds and native vehicle animations' which, as far as I can deduce from their description on SimMarket is the only difference. I guess irrespective of this I am going to be tempted and will buy it, but if anyone has got in there before me and bought this specifically for FS9, could they kindly give some feedback on it. There is certainly is no doubt the Latin VFR have improved the quality of their airport addons very considerably recently and I would be hopeful that this too is of the same high standard.

I was also looking forward to this scenery.

I also hope for someone who buys first (lol) to share some impressions!

BTW How's the new Galeao, Bill?

Just had a brief flight in the Rio area. The updated Galeao is a definite improvement on the previous Tropical SIm version with much better textures, especially for the buildings and a lot of additional autogen both in the airport and the surrounding area.It now looks very realistic and I would have to say that this airport now also brings Tropical Sim close to the big league of airport scenery developers. Am pleased with it and glad I bought the upgrade (I think this is the 4th variant of SBGL which I have had for FS9!).

With regard to Bermuda, all I can say is that if I were a drug addict I would be murdering for a fix! I bought it but haven't installed it yet and will let you know what the FS9 version is like when I have it up and running.

The only one I have from LatinVFR is Key West for FS9 and I love it... I did have redo the mipmaps to eliminate some Moire effect on my box - but - after that - it really improves the area... One of my favorite locations to fly... I hope Bermuda is at least as good...

OK, some preliminary observations after flying Bermuda for a while - this is another really good product from Latin VFR (I have most of Latin VFR's scenery and they now consistently produce very high quality work). Although I think the SimMarket screenshots are probably from FSX, the appearence of the FS9 version is not dissimilar with very good quality airport buildings and a huge amount of autogen (buildings, ships, boats etc) placed through out the islands as well as realistic landclass. Despite all this autogen, there does not appear to be any impact on frame rates which were very good (mid 60s on my system) using a Carenado Cessna 182. In summary this is an addon which I am happy to recommend and I don't think anyone who buys it will be disappointed. It is an island which has played it's part in the history of transatlantic aviation as a refuelling stop and is of course a tourist destination in it's own right both from the US and Europe. Until now the only scenery available was freeware from Freeflow, which was not bad but which certainly caused some issues on FS9 for me so I had to uninstall it. With this release however I think Bermuda might now become a frequent destination for flightsimmers.

Hey, Bill!

Both of your reports are great! Thank you very much for yor time. emoticon-0139-bow.gif

You have convinced me to buy both. Probably not now, as I am temporarily short of FS cash, but September seems optimistic.

I also used the FreeFlow Bermuda, always dreaming of something better like it seems to have come now.

I have always been interested in that place, especially after seeing, as a young boy, 'the Deep' (1977) with Robert Shaw and Nick Nolte. snorkler.gif

Thank you once again!

Just installed it and now taking off from CYYZ on a WestJet 73W NGX. Can't wait to see it in a few hours

We have both and will share impressions on both!

I bought it because i used to fly to and from the Bermuda a lot and stopped doing so because of the default scenery.

All i can say is "WOW", it made my day! I don't know if i like it more in daytime or nighttime. Superb and i highly recommend it.

No need to say more. Sometimes three letters tell more than a whole review.

I lived in Bermuda for three years while flying KC-97s out of Kindley AFB (that alone shows just how old I am). Been hoping for years to see a good scenery package for the island. You folks have convinced me....will buy it today as soon as I find which shop has it.

....The Latin website has no info about it at all.
