Just seen an interesting post on the beta sight and really don't know what to make of it?

Yeah. Best to just wait and see, though.

Well, to me the message is clear. No use for us.

(seems it will be for steam users/people only)

Totally agree hence my vagueness but following the news on steam seems to me that some people have just come out of a meeting...

See post by OMGBBQ32 who posted this...

And from the Original beta site:

Don't take it personal. Those people were not involved in running the original beta before release and aren't familiar with the process. They are forging their own path. Most likely the beta they are talking about will only be for those couple people left on the team that will test it, and not public at all. Steam offers some great ways to create a beta and restrict access to it. It doesn't make a lot of sense to use the previous process any more.

I would stress that it just looks like some fixes so far. Beyond some (understandable) hope from this side, nothing is really being promised here.

true, but i don't see any reason why they should even fix a program that they already binned, if it isn't to be continued in any way

in the future maybe, or maybe not :)

It seems like fortunes for me have turned around (not a lot, but slightly) after I got a job (not one that pays) from the leader of Tech Crew for managing the website for the Tech Crew at my school, which was yesterday at 1:00 PM. And Yes I am part of the Tech Crew for my school.

I feel that too but it does give a glimmer of hope that someone will continue the work we started no matter how big or small that is.

FLIGHT's development team

were using STEAM as a test-environment

for at least 35 months

before FLIGHT was even released.

And doing so for 36 months

before any public announcement

that FLIGHT would be avilable via STEAM.

Use of STEAM's multiplayer environment for testing

does does not preclude any patch's applicability for non-STEAM users.

To be honest I'm not sure what needs fixing. I've never encountered any problems with Flight which is another reason I loved it.

Not going to happen. Live is deeply integrated into Flight and its locked down tight.

You're more in the know than most so I believe you when you say this but it still doesn't make sense to me. Even people who criticized Flight for its lack of content / depth etc. agreed that the engine is great, and (I believe) it really is great. There are so many advantages to opening it up to 3rd party devs and other than having to make sure contracts with them are watertight re licencing, I can't see any disadvantages to MS.

The math seems odd. Was flight really in development that long? That makes it even crazier that they would go to that much effort over such a long period then dump the whole thing after 6 months.

Now that's fickle.

I find that very odd as well...

Flight was in development since 2009 actually, when Aces was fired and Microsoft hired the Flight team to work on it.

Remember the announcement on August 2010?

If true, I can only assume the Microsoft decision making process includes lots of blindfolds and dart boards.

Or Windows 8 was the problem to why they stopped Flight development.

What could Windows 8 have to do with it?

Jehan Kateli

Has anyone tried it on windows 8?
