September 21, 201213 yr But no one answered the crucial question : is it reaaly better than the freeware that is around for a year ? too much, too soon....
September 21, 201213 yr I think for half a year. I was working on this RAAS since 2010 but due to my limited knowledge in C and/or other languages, i couldnt finish it alone (thats were FS2Crew jumped in). There are several things that are quite advanced. We do not use computer generated callouts but have our own professional made sounds with more soundpacks following (the voice of the real RAAS cannot be used due to copyrights). We soon have Aerosoft Navdata support (i am working on it) and we use the exact same values from the real RAAS. There are other things coming as well but more info later on. Tebin Ulrich
September 21, 201213 yr Author But no one answered the crucial question : is it reaaly better than the freeware that is around for a year ? I don't have the freeware and am entirely to lazy to install it to see the difference. However after watching a video with the freeware RAAS one thing that sticks out is the quality of the voice. The freeware voice would drive me insane. The FS2Crew version is very smooth and very close to the real deal. Randy Swofford

September 22, 201213 yr Author Maybe we can get Bryan to code a "Wife approaching abort, abort!!" call out. Randy Swofford
September 22, 201213 yr Commercial Member Maybe we can get Bryan to code a "Wife approaching abort, abort!!" call out. With a cam and facial recognition software, it might just be possible! But no one answered the crucial question : is it reaaly better than the freeware that is around for a year ? Please give it some time, and I'm sure someone will chime in with a detailed analysis. I only released yesterday and people are still figuring out the software and learning what it can do. Check the Manual.. September 22, 201213 yr Maybe we can get Bryan to code a "Wife approaching abort, abort!!" call out. I'd pay for that Cheers, Alex
September 22, 201213 yr Commercial Member I'd pay for that A claymore setup around the man cave would probably be a cheaper, and more effective deterent B. York FS2Crew Web Site / FS2Crew Facebook Page / FS2Crew Discord
September 22, 201213 yr I bought FS2Crew RAAS, and just found the freeware RAAS on Flightsim.com I used the FS2Crew RAAS on 2 flights so far, and it works as advertized. I haven't tried the freeware version yet, but have seen the demo videos, and I have to say on the surface it does appear to be very similar to the FS2Crew version, I'll have to check into it some more. One thing that I do like is i runs externally to FSX, where the FS2Crew version uses a DLL. With the amount of Address Space the NGX requires, running it externally would be more efficient. Especially for those still on 32bit OS like I am!! Thanks Tom My Youtube Videos! http://www.youtube.com/user/tf51d
