September 28, 201213 yr Hello my friends, Im trying to set up my FSX with lots of great add onns. I will list what I have right now and what Im interested on and hopefully you will share your knowledge and recommendations with me (and others): Note: Money is no issue for me, Im not looking for the best value.... just the best overall. My system is a monster (check my specs). I currently Own: - FSX (Service pack 1&2) - REX - FDC Live Cockpit X - FS Dream Team: JFK, ZurichX, ORD, Geneva, LAX V2, LAS, FLL, PHNL, DFW, GSX - MegaScenery Earth: New York (entire State), Massachussets (entire State), Florida (entire State), Califormia (entire State), Chicago (City Pack) - PMDG B737-800/900 - PMDG Jetstream 41 Is there anything else you guys would recommend? Im interested in a good LGA (cant find one fully compatible with FSX), the best MIA, the best airports in Paris, the best Rome & Milan add onns. I would also love to get a great EZE (Ezeiza, Buenos Aires) but I dont see any compatible with FSX. Please share your knowledge with me, I would really appreciate it! September 28, 201213 yr The best addon for 2012 so far is for Scenery: Posted by PC Pilot Magazine: German Airport Team - Friedrichshafen X rating of 9.2 at $14.95. But, the way of thinking is where do you fly and use more?! I had waisted money for products that I don`t use. From now on, I`ll only buy addons where do I fly the most and uses the most. I hope I gave some help. See ya
September 28, 201213 yr A thought...as bthiago says, where do you want to fly.... Why not different topics about different areas. USA, Europe, and so on..... Anyone taking the challenge? Safe landings Goran Arvnell

September 28, 201213 yr I'd recommend Ultimate Terrain X Ground Enviroment Extreme X PMDG MD11 QW Avro/Bae series SunSkyJet PHL (Free) I've heard the FSDT JFK was very good. Since you have a "monster" system I might try Manhattan X as well. "I am the Master of the Fist!" -Akuma
September 28, 201213 yr I would recommend Acceleration instead of SP2. Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! September 28, 201213 yr Author FSUIPC hello!!! Can you expand on this? I actually dont know anything about this add on and what it does. Why is this worth it? I'd recommend Ultimate Terrain X Ground Enviroment Extreme X PMDG MD11 QW Avro/Bae series SunSkyJet PHL (Free) I've heard the FSDT JFK was very good. Since you have a "monster" system I might try Manhattan X as well. I forgot to add that I also have Manhattan X.... amazing! Based on advice I got in this thread, I also just purchased 2 Carenado HD series aircraft..... great call on those! I would recommend Acceleration instead of SP2. Best regards, Jim How could I buy a downloadable version of Acceleration? Would I have to reinstall everything? By the way, your link to my thread about CTD issues fix everything.... thanks a lot! Did I make a mistake buying all of the Mega Scenery Earth photoscenery? I didnt do much homework on that... I just like it and impulsively bought them. Are There better ones out there? The only problem is that I had to download 180 separate files and mannually install each one.... that was a big pain! SP2 would have to be uninstalled (and FSX ran at least one time afterwards) before installing Acceleration. Here's what is provided in Acceleration - http://blogs.msdn.com/b/ptaylor/archive/2008/06/24/what-is-fsx-acceleration-what-does-it-contain-and-is-it-worth-it.aspx. As far as I know, Acceleration can be bought at any software store or from Amazon.com. MegaScenery Earth is a good product for the most part but it's not FPS friendly. For instance I got the stuff around Chicago and it was difficult to fly around the area. I suspect you can change your fsx.cfg settings just for flying around Chicago but I don't like any product that isn't compatible with other areas I fly to/from. I can disable MS Earth Chicago via the Scenery Library in case I fly out of FSDT's KORD (which is heavy on frames too). I have MegaScenery Vegas and Southern California and that software is awesome. I wish they would have continued production of that series, especially Northern California. It looks like they have given up on MegaScenery Earth as I haven't seen any additional areas posted for a long time. I haven't seen any mention here of FTX/Orbx scenery. The Pacific Northwest is one of the nicest areas in the world and a pleasure to fly over and around. The stuff they are doing at FTX/Orbx is sometimes mind-boogling - http://fullterrain.com/. Glad you were able to fix your CTD issues. Let's hope you can continue to hit that 'Fly Now' button without any additional issues! September 28, 201213 yr FSUIPC is an interface which allows the interaction of third party programs with fsx to get coordinates and other data needed for these programs. I use it for calibrating my yoke/rudder pedals/throttle quadrant, etc i think its a must, if you have hardware controls that is. maybe it doesnt fall in the add-on category but id get it i7 4790K 4.8GHz, 16GB DDR3 1866MHz, EVGA RTX 2080 XC. 1TB M.2 SSD, 4TB HDD, 4K display. The stuff they are doing at FTX/Orbx is sometimes mind-boogling - Are you kidding???? I just went to the link for these guys and their stuff is better than anything I've seen! September 28, 201213 yr I agree with Jim, Orbx sceneries and airports are IMO the finest available. Agree, I only fly in Orbx land. But be aware that you have to exit FSX and switch regions if you fly out of their coverage area(except Tongas Fjords X which is compitable and maybe some other products but not sure)
