September 28, 201213 yr Have to agree with the Orbx scenery. Once I started using their stuff, it is hard to fly anywhere else, especially if you like GA flying. September 28, 201213 yr Why are people not making a bigger deal abouyt this amazing work?! Is this really bad on FPS? People do make a bigger deal about this scenery. It is exceptional and they, like me, probably figured you already knew about FTX/Orbx stuff so didn't say anything. In fact, I'm still astonished you have not heard about this scenery. I don't see any FPS issues with this scenery. Now if you turn your settings up to max (fsx and your display driver), you'll get a hit for sure but it really is framerate friendly. September 28, 201213 yr Are you kidding???? I just went to the link for these guys and their stuff is better than anything I've seen! Why are people not making a bigger deal abouyt this amazing work?! Is this really bad on FPS? If you like Orbx you should also take a look at this http://www.avsim.com...rthSim/VFR.html. Just stunning scenery full of life exelent for low and slow flying but just make sure to turn Autogen sliders high to get the most of it. Even John Venema(Orbx CEO )likes the work of these guys and are talking of some kind of cooperation or getting compitability with Orbx upcoming UK scenery. Her are some of my screenshots of this exelent scenery http://forum.avsim.net/topic/386663-some-from-isles-of-scilly/#entry2482363

October 2, 201213 yr Author If I installed (in this order) all of these add ons, is there something I should do to avoid conflict? My runways are messed up (I see dirt and patches of grass all over): REX PhotoScenery Earth Manhattan Manhattan X UTX GEX Flight Environment X Which ones overlap? And if I install water and clouds from FEX, am i essentially uninstalling the REX theme? Any thoughts? October 2, 201213 yr I can comment/propose only among things that I own, and I'll try to propose things from the most basic-fundamental, to the more specific: First, the "infrastructure": 1. You have REX. That is good. For water/sky/clouds/sun/moon textures it is irreplacable. Also for default airport textures (taxiways, runways, aprons, etc.). 2. Get ActiveSky 2012. It is the only weather engine without any problems that works as it should. 3. Get FS-Global - not necessarily the 2012 version - but even the 2010 is more than enough. It makes a tremendous difference. Then, the planes: 4. PMDG MD-11X 5. PMDG 747-400X (or wait 8-12 months for the new v2 if you want) 6. FS Labs A320 (when it comes out at the end of the year) These have global coverage. And then, only for the regions you fly, get: 7. Ground Environment X + 8. Ultimate Terrain X They make a gret difference. 9. Airports, now in general, the following developers are good, to very good (in random order): - SimWings (only their Heathrow is not good, and you should avoid it) They have great Paris CDG, Madrid Barajas, Barcelona El Prat, the Canary Islands, Anchorage. Usually distributed by Aerosoft. - Flytampa All their airports are top-notch. Athens, Vienna, Tampa, St. Maarten (although it does show its age a bit) - FlightBeam Studios San Francisco - UK2000 All their UK airports are top-notch. - Aerosoft (made by various developers) Many Greek islands (Corfu, Santorini, Kos, Heraklion) Stockholm-Arlanda, Oslo, Trondheim, Stavanger, Venice, Nice, Toulouse, Lisbon Budapest, Vilnius, Krakow Keflavik Larnaca Gibraltar Yekaterinburg (Russia) Sharm-El-Kseih (Egypt) Many excellent German Airports (Munich, Hamburg, Berlin-Tegel, Stuttgart, Hannover, Leipzig, Koln-Bonn, Dortmund, Bremen) - ImagineSim A little less detailed than the others, but it is more than enough, and they have excellent framerates: Singapore-Changi WSSS, Hong-Kong Chep La Kok VHHH, New Delhi, Bahamas-Nassau, Puerto-Rico TJSJ, Atlanta, Washington-Dulles KIAD, Denver, La Guardia - LatinVFR In general, excellent sceneries, with less than average price. Miami KMIA, Santo Domingo MDSD, MROC, MGGT, the two Jamaican MKJP and MKJS, Cozumel MMCZ - TropicalSim In general, excellent sceneries, with less than average price. Bilbao LEBB - Taxi2Gate In general, excellent sceneries, with less than average price. Mexico City MMMX Tegucigalpa MHTG - Pacific Islands Simulations In general, excellent sceneries, with less than average price. Marshall Islands PKMJ Puerto Vallarta MMPR - 3 excellent Asian airports from different developers: Bangkok VTBS from ARMI Project Phuket VTSP from A_A Sceneries Seoul-Incheon RKSI from Overland - And two freeware airports that are of extreme payware quality: ----> Kiev UKBB ----> Philadelpheia KPHL PS: Also, in my opinion, avoid OrbX stuff at all costs. Yes, it is very good, but completely incompatible with all the rest. If you have to do acrobatics every time you start FSX and you want to fly in a different region... it is pointless.
October 3, 201213 yr Any ORBX product, they are freaking amazing. I just would wish they focus less on those small sceneries and more on bigger airports where I can land my heavies. :diablo:

If you have to do acrobatics every time you start FSX and you want to fly in a different region... it is pointless. Completely incompitble with everything that's a lie. Have seen people running UTX, GEX and stuff side by side with seamless borders. May have to tweak some things but that info you can find in Orbx compitability forum And If your flying real "low and slow" I think they and ES Channel islands scenerys is the best, can't find that level of detail anywhere else(If so point me in the right direction) here is an ilustration

October 3, 201213 yr Not sure when REX Essentials Plus will be out (SP1) but if you want an accurate weather generator, try Opus FSX Live Weather Engine. Its been really accurate on the Metar reports and is rendered as stated at your location. CYVR LSZH I7-14700k 64gb 6000Mhz DDR5 ASUS z690 ROG STRIX Gaming RTX 4080 Super,

October 3, 201213 yr Agree, I only fly in Orbx land. But be aware that you have to exit FSX and switch regions if you fly out of their coverage area(except Tongas Fjords X which is compitable and maybe some other products but not sure) What? I don't do this... I leave orbx enabled and fly all over the rest of the world with GEX/UTX/ and addon airports and scenery - no issues. October 3, 201213 yr Commercial Member Yup anything from ORBX is always quality. I have not been flying in the sim for a while but FS2Crew is great too. Repaint Requests - Get your OWN custom repaint
October 3, 201213 yr If you're looking for Paris airports then you don't have much choice for Charles De Gaulle - Aerosoft's is the only one I know of but it's heavy on frames (though this shouldn't be a problem with your system!). In terms of other add ons which you don't have I can think of a couple: Some kind of dynamic head movement for cameras. I have EZdok which is good but I'm hearing that OpusFSX might be better. Shade for FSX - probably the best £10 I've spent on FSX for the results. Much better shadows that consequently give a lot more depth.
October 3, 201213 yr For me, the best combination is by far Orbx PNW coupled with REX cloud textures and AS2012 weather generation software. Couple this with the Baytower RV7, or Realair Duke or the Ant's Drifter...and you are in flying heaven.
