October 10, 201213 yr It raises your knowledge, broadens your horizons, and you get to meet a lot of really good people. The biggest area is Geography and Aviation, as well as sharing each others cultures as we are an international community on here. Cheers Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me
October 10, 201213 yr It keeps me out of the pub but apart from that, Like Matthew said! Chris Howard
October 10, 201213 yr It makes you a better person: It keeps you stuck in front of a PC, well out of the way, thus pleasing other members of your family and bringing harmony to the household. Participation in AVSIM and other forums encourages successful social interaction and pleasant discourse. Tweaking FS and learning how to fly complex aircraft stimulates the brain, increases your IQ, and helps delay the onset of degenerative diseases. FS is cheaper than many hobbies, so you have more to spend on other people and other things, making you popular and well-regarded. It makes you a worse person: It keeps you stuck in front of a PC, well out of the way, thus irritating other members of your family and causing unholy rows. Participation in AVSIM and other forums encourages aggression, impatience and childish behaviour. Tweaking FS and learning how to fly complex aircraft baffles the brain, causing frustration and high levels of stress which ultimately can lead to an early death. It's more expensive than many hobbies, so you spend less on others which causes further hostility and possibly contributes to marriage break-up. Ian
October 10, 201213 yr I think this hobby helps me Geographically. I am much more aware of where different places are now than I was before, and I enjoy learning about them. i7-6700K @ 4.5 GHz, 16 GB DDR4-2400 MHz, GTX 1070 8GB

October 10, 201213 yr I think that this hobby has most definetely helped me with geography. In Europe, I am much more aware of cities and the relation to countries distances etc... I also think that being an active member of the community has helped partially shape my debate skills. The requirement to stay civil has really increased my ability to pursuade in a polite manner. (In person)

Before getting into flight simulation, I have never before met and shared friendship with so many diverse people. Near, far, small, big, white, black, blue, red, all united under the universal language of aviation. It opens your eyes to how much is out there, how friendly and wonderful people can be. October 10, 201213 yr I think that this hobby has most definetely helped me with geography. In Europe, I am much more aware of cities and the relation to countries distances etc... Same applies for me, but for the United States. Before I started this hobby, I was hardly aware of any US cities other than some on the Washington, DC, New York, LA and San Francisco, and I had no clue at all, where a particular state migth be located. And being around here has certainly improved my English skills, in terms of writing and thinking in English. Flo Florian
October 10, 201213 yr A side from giving me an awareness of the aviation world, and the World as a whole, I believe working on FSX has made me much more computer savvy. I work everyday with computer programs within my profession, and trying to tweak and fix FSX has helped me in working with these programs also, fixing problems. Microsoft managed to make FSX buggy enough that it has been an education tool long before the concept of P3D was thought of. Robert Yunque
