October 12, 201213 yr Well, I got recently my own credit cards (too much hassle here in Colombia, and fees too high for my liking, but that's another topic), and looking at some great FS9 addons, my wallet has started to itch me (previously, I borrowed my girlfriend's CC). However, some of the addons accept Paypal only. How secure is using Paypal instead of using the CC directly? After being issued my cards, I've only purchased the iFly 737, but I'm aware of Flight1's reputation and thus I didn't mind to enter directly my CC data. October 12, 201213 yr I use Paypal, never had any bother at all with it, very safe. Regards, Ró. Rónán O Cadhain.
October 12, 201213 yr Commercial Member Yeah it's fine. I prefer it to using CC actually if only because it's easier to type my email address than remember my CC number. Noah Bryant
October 12, 201213 yr Using it for years with no problems at all. It really is the easy way to pay ( too easy actually). The only thing to look out for is spam emails claiming to be from Paypal, similar to the spam emails claiming to be from your bank. You may even be getting them already despite not having a PP account. Anthony O'Brien
October 13, 201213 yr Using it, too, and no problems whatsoever, either. And actually I find it a good way of limiting the amount of money to be spent on FS! Regards, Flo Florian
October 13, 201213 yr Paypal is very safe. Only recommendation I have is to have a good password and make sure it's different than all your other passwords (just like you would your bank info). ¿que hubo paisano? Are there many Colombians here?
October 13, 201213 yr Same here. Martin Sims: MSFS 2020, MSFS 2024 and X-plane 11 Home Airport: CYCW - Chilliwack, BC Canada i5 13600KF 32GB DDR4 3600 RAM, RTX3080TI Meta Quest 3
October 13, 201213 yr If you are using wifi at home, double check that your on WPA without WPS, with a complex enough password. When you want to connect to Paypal always verify that you have a lock symbol and the address start with HTTPS. And a good combo-software : antivirus, firewall, malware scanner.
October 13, 201213 yr An advantage is that you're not providing your c/c number to the interweb as often - which might be of comfort if you're dealing with a company you don't know much about. But yes, it can be too easy to use... Mike Dryden
October 13, 201213 yr It's good, safe and very quick for few years now Alaa A. RiadJust love to fly............... W11 64-bit, MSFS2020, Intel Core i7-8700 CPU @ 3.20 Ghz 6 Cores, 2 TR HD, 16.0 GB DDR4 RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6 MB GDDR5
October 13, 201213 yr The payment process with Paypal is very secure. However, be aware if the transaction goes awry you can be left high and dry. I make scale model aircraft and a couple of years ago a new member popped up on a scale modelling forum I frequent and posted a list of kits and accessories for sale at very attractive prices. I sent him £25 via Paypal for a kit, and with the other people there buying stuff from him I think he made something like £700. Nobody got the kits they had sent him the money for. When we contacted Paypal they told us they were unable to recover the funds because he had emptied the bank account linked to his Paypal and they would not give us his contact details, other than a Hotmail email address and an IP address he used to log in from which was a mobile/3G internet dongle somewhere in London. It was most definitely a lesson learned on my part. Nick
October 14, 201213 yr Author Well, I suppose my doubts have been solved, the only "horror" story here is because of a crook seller, not exactly Paypal's fault. Thanks a lot to everyone here, you've made some developers happy  Best regards,Luis Hernández Main rig: self built, AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D (with SMT off and CO -50 mV), 2x16 GB DDR4-3200 RAM, Nvidia RTX 5060Ti 16GB, 256 GB M.2 SSD (OS+apps) + 2x1 TB SATA III SSD (sims) + 1 TB 7200 rpm HDD (storage), ID-Cooling SE-224-XTS air cooler, Viewsonic VX2458-MHD 1920x1080@120-144 Hz (G-sync compatible), Windows 11.
