October 26, 201213 yr I like how the clouds blends into the surrounding mountains. Looks really nice. I have REX, AS2012 now I don't think I could resist adding OPUS to the collection.
October 26, 201213 yr First post to say don't buy opus. I'm intrigued.....do you know something I don't? If so please tell. Cheers Craig. Perhaps a comprehensive list of reason why Opus is better the AS2012 weather engine will be helpful too. I have always heard that AS2012 or the AS series does a very impressive job. What's different with Opus? Thanks Vu Pham i7-13700K 5.2 GHz OC, 64 GB RAM, RTX5090, SSD for Sim, SSD for system. MSFS2020, XP-12, DCS
October 26, 201213 yr Perhaps a comprehensive list of reason why Opus is better the AS2012 weather engine will be helpful too. I have always heard that AS2012 or the AS series does a very impressive job. What's different with Opus? For me, the biggest selling point with Opus was the fact that you can actually see the weather in the distance, see fronts, cloud layers, etc and actually fly into them. They don't all of a sudden change or disappear before you get there, or even worse, as you get there. That was what got me to buy it. And now that I have it, I always think to myself now this is the way the weather should have been all along. We've been missing out for so long. I'm trying to put this in much more comprehensible terms here but it's harder to describe than I thought. It's just that feeling of being completely immersed - like you're really out there, flying around in the weather and into the weather. Not just what some algorithm decided to throw at you. I have AS2012 and I like it. There's nothing wrong with it at what it does. And, as I said, it's hard to explain the differences in great detail, at least for me. AS will show you weather too and it can create some beautiful weather as well. But, I have not experienced weather in AS like I do in Opus. You just have to experience it. Maybe it was my settings in AS, like the number of cloud layers I had or something(which was 5 btw), or maybe something else, I don't know. But, with Opus it just feels more real. Again, with Opus, I'm totally immersed - the line between what's real and what's not just got a lot, lot finer. Regards, Kevin LaMal "Facts Don't Care About Your Feelings" - Shapiro2024
October 26, 201213 yr I wasn't really looking for a new weather engine when I bought OpusFSX (instead, my interest was in having an alternative to EZDOK), but now that I've experienced Opus's weather (combined with REX textures), I'm sold. Much better than the REX weather engine, in my opinion. (Maybe Mr. First Time Poster is a REX programmer...) @ OP Nice screen shots thanks for sharing B) @billn53 Well maybe you could share some screen shots which shows the differences, because what I've seen via screen shots and youtube I'm not convinced at all ;-) I prefer up until now AS2012 for several realistic reasons... André
October 26, 201213 yr Don´t call me dumb but what is this Opus thingy? I was out of the FS Business for about 4 months. I guess I missed a lot. Best regards, Steffen Fight time: NGX 737-700: 37,0h; -800: 47,2h

October 26, 201213 yr Use REX for textures and Opus for weather. I wouldn't bother waiting for winds aloft it's that good. I was tired of AS weather not appearing when it should or have it disappearing, etc. I have not had that issue once since going with Opus. Other that the PMDG 737 this is the best FS software purchase I have ever made.
