November 1, 201213 yr What is IF btw? Do you mean to say IF will be better than OpusFSX? Worth its own thread then, init? Will be nicer at least. Dirk.
November 1, 201213 yr Commercial Member IF is fairly recent so you may not be aware of it, there's been several threads about it here over the past year or so. It's a total solution for offline flight generation. it's got the "most advanced auto-planner available" haha, way better at airways and spans continents too, but that's another story :} Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com
November 1, 201213 yr haha, yeah, just a medical problem had me shelve IF 5 years ago, then i got better recently and picked up the project, but some parts had to get left out of the F1 product, or wait too long. :-} Your project looks kinda intresting though, maybe I'll check It out If all the advertising and claims of what it does on your site is true Maybe anyone else who have tried this software could give some feedback?

Dirk.
November 1, 201213 yr Commercial Member Good luck with the wx engine, I hope it will run on the client pc as well. Dirk. Thanks Dirk You mean the same clouds in the same place at the same time? yay. But you run a copy of IF per machine. The sim controls the time and the time controls IF and all IF's do the same thing, no random numbers. Maybe anyone else who have tried this software could give some feedback? there's a review: http://asn.aerosoft.com/?page_id=14263 Anyway enough about IF, it is too easy to use the term "most advanced", it really needs to be subjected to scrutiny, and for IF's stab at real world weather, that will have to wait a little while yet... Do you know that ASE, AS2012 or REX can be installed and run on the client pc and inject wx to the main FSX pc? That's what I meant in the first place. I'm not sure about 'a copy of IF per machine', but sounds quite different from I was asking. Dirk.
November 1, 201213 yr Commercial Member I see. well IF kind of sits shoulder to shoulder with FSX, as it controls a lot of files and reads the scenery and runs the Ai and so on, it is most efficient run on the host. Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com

So does IF, to 127 ) it's best to be on the same machine as FSX since it does a lot of stuff. Per PC: if you hook up with joint control or a network game each FSX gets the same weather exactly.. November 1, 201213 yr I'm not sure which I'd recommend. I really like how Opus looks, but after getting vectored to the downwind runway it brought back some annoyances that had gone away with AS. And somehow, despite a METAR declaring CAVOK two miles from where I live, AS managed to depict the high, broken stratus that was present where Opus had clear blue. Dumb luck? Maybe. Either way, both are good. Mike Dryden
November 1, 201213 yr Perhaps once Opus is finished I will look at it. Would prefer to get something finished as opposed to half baked. Jas Jaseman. Lovin it up here........ Catch us over at MassieSim32 -> https://discord.gg/B4buuHGhcr
November 1, 201213 yr Maybe It's trivial for you but could be very important for others, It's not really important for me but I would like to see that in Opus in the future if possible. Would also like them to include cloud textures with Opus so I can ditch REXE, maybe trivial too you but important for me. That's what I'm saying! If this map thing is so important to someone they'll find it on an aviation weather website. This makes preflight planning experience more realistic anyway. It's trivial for them to include it because it'll show the same information anyway!
November 1, 201213 yr Commercial Member I tend to agree, although it would be nice to have a little weather map in the kneeboard maybe... Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com
November 1, 201213 yr I'm a long time user of AS's products currently using AS 2012. I heard of Opus before but now after reading through this thread I'm tempted to give Opus a go myself after reading about the realistic visibility approaches you can expect and not having to see how the clouds/weather all of a sudden changes from one second to the next in a very unrealistic way. One thing though I'm wondering about is what textures to use to get the most out of Opus and to get the most realistic look possible since Opus doesn't come with it's own textures, what do you guys recommend...stay with AS 2012 textures or some other textures? I have both AS 2012 and REX Essential and I'm currently using AS 2012 textures. Thanks in advance for your input!
