Ah. A forum I never check. Odd, given this is probably the biggest FSX scenery release for UK flyers in years.

Yes, it seems some products are allowed to be talked about in the general FSX forum (even though they have their own) and others aren't.

I spent ages (well, okay, ten minutes) lookng for the original thread that was here maybe Friday. Without it I wouldnt have know about the release. It is certainly impressive.

Too many post moves in my opinion. Something I am potentially interested in, invariably gets moved deep into the bowls of forums that I'll never dig in to. Not everything with the word ORBX has to be moved to an ORBX subforum, not everything with the words Captain Sim have to be moved to a Captain Sim forum. Sometimes it really is applicable in the general forum.

Agreed. I was also surprised when I saw that this had been released that there wasn't any reaction or commentary here in the FSX forum. Apparently that's because all the threads were moved.

 

If I were in charge (which obviously I'm not) I would keep support threads and--for lack of a better term--"nitty gritty" posts about products in the subforum. On the other hand, if launch day reactions to products, especially major ones, can't live in the main forum that's really a loss to those that frequent it. Especially if you can consolidate all the posts into a single thread, there's no real downside to allowing such posts in the main forum.

Yes, there is a problem over here at avsim with moderating. Threads being moved or even worse being closed without any good reason. A particular commercial software is being overprotected by a moderator. Quite sad really.

I have no idea why it's happening, and I'd be frankly surprised if there were any hidden agenda. I think it's just over-modding.

 

But it it carries on, I'll have to subscribe to every AVSIM forum except the FSX one, to get my release news!

Anyway: I've flown it a bit. It's beautiful. I'll go post more in the Orbx subforum.

It's full of errors sadly. Not anywhere near the quality one might expect from ORBX. And sadly - talking of poor moderation - ORBX are shutting topics on its own forum about the problems. Such as this one.

One more off topic post, risking this thread to be closed soon, too, but I also feel that sometimes topics are closed or moved way too fast, though they seem in the apporpiate forum to me, too.

Mighty unfortunate that a developer would shoot themselves in the foot by being so sour to criticism.

I don't think Im going to buy this now; Fall texture colours are all wrong i think.
