Windows 8 - Joystick Megathread problem.

Featured Replies

This is really bad, it is happening to me in every flight and I have no way to fix it. Has anyone been able to come up with a solution or a work around? I am using a Logitech Extreme3DPro joystick and I'm on Windows 8 64 bit. Windows 7 compatibility mode did not do anything for me.

I can't believe this thread is still going at this rate.   Register your controls with FSUIPC, Disable your joystick in FSX menu = 100% reliable joystick availability.

Well, in my case fsuipc doesn't even recognise joystick inputs in Windows 8.   Wysłane z mojego GT-I9100

Try this and provide feedback,

Try "right click Logitech Extreme 3D Pro icon ,Go into Properties ,Click on Compatibility ,and run the program Compatibility Mode .Windows 7 or Windows XP

I'm not sure what icon you are talking about, I don't have a Logitech Icon.

This may help - in WIN 8 goes to device manage and rightclick on each USB Hub controller. Select properties and deselect the checkbox that says "allow windows to put this device to sleep to save power". Worth a try at this point. Cheers jja

Come on people enough with this usb power setting thing, it has been made pretty clear that this is not a usb power saving issue. It only comes back (most of the times) with random clicking between other windows etc.

I mean the icon for the controller in devices and printers.

I dont have a compatibility option when I go to properties window for the joystick

Can you try installing the drivers in compatibility mode?

Logitech's drivers come in a setup.exe installer, how can i install the actual driver in compatibility mode?

Mehmet Yatan

This definitely has to do with switching windows. If I don't alt+tab or minimize FSX, joystick is fine. The minute I start minimizing, joystick disconnects.

I've been having this happen lately with Windows 7. I have my yoke and throttles set up through FSUIPC and get a little pause in the sim then no controls. If I go back into FSUIPC they will come back. Very annoying.

You right-click on the installer,go to trouble-shoot, select worked in earlier versions of windows , etc.

Sorry I'm not a believer in your theory. Since disabling sleep mode on my USB controllers I haven't lost my controller once. And I was doing a lot of Alt-Tabbing between full and windowed mode. Running WIN 8. Stay tuned Cheers jja

I have also disabled the sleep mode, it doesn't do anything.

Yep, I've now got a dual boot running. I use Win7 when ever I want to fly NGX or a similarly complex aircraft and for GA flying I use Win8.

Have tried all the tricks from everywhere. Only once have I been able to get my controllers back after I lose them. I have no idea how they came back and I can't seem to reproduce it. My theory is it's a DirectX/Win8/USB driver issue and god knows when it'll be fixed for certain.

Has anyone had this issue with P3D?
