Aivlasoft EFB approach charts real or fake?

Featured Replies

I can't figure out (using the internet) if the EFB approach charts are real world charts or fake ones created by EFB based on FSX and AIRAC information... Anyone here who knows this?

To the best of my knowledge EFB generates the charts based on the AIRAC information, so in that sense they are fake.

Ok, thanks!

Wow, great site! Exactly what I needed. I just had a look at the initial approach chart for the Hearthrow 27L ILS and it exactly tells me what I needed/wanted to know (the STAR in the PMDG 737NGX FMC didn't tell me enough and I see now I need to add a speed constraint at a certain point: up to now I always came in too high and too fast). Think I will forget about EFB again (also because the charts aren't real: I also just read somewhere that for instance DH is the same FSX default on all charts and not the real one).

From their website, fake....

"Aeronautical Charts

The charts you need for your flight are rendered on demand, based on several sources like flight simulator data and Navigraph FMS data (SIDs, STARs and Approaches).

One complete Navigraph AIRAC cycle (1101) will be shipped together with the installation package, so even if you are not a subscriber to the Navigraph service, you are ready to start flying. Many thanks to Navigraph for this generous gesture. Current revisions of the navigation data may be purchased from www.navigraph.com."

Well that charts are there and they have the altitude restrictions, glide path angle and frequencies. It would be nice of they had all the information like a real chart does.

Truthfully I would like to say that for $70 I use it all the time, but I don't. Stick with the free charts.

The real charts are free from NATS and EAD.Eurocontrol

I know I was talking about the Aivlasoft EFB though.

Thanks all, I'll stick with free charts indeed. I fly in England all the time now and link that NyxxUK posted is all I need. I was thinking about the EFD because the idea of having everything right there at your fingertips looked nice, but if it isn't complete I'd have to look for pdf's online anyway. And btw that link almost gives me everything at my fingertips too. ;)

I prefer to look at them as "synthetic" charts rather than "fake." I typically don't use them where I have Jepps or Navigraph plates, but they work in the absence of other options at some of the lesser-travelled worldwide destinations.

EFB isn't just about charts...there's quite a bit more to this program than that.

and am I to understand that you have now concluded after all this approach chart generation battering you think FSX is now real? Good to hear. Next thing you know, we will hear that Orbx England is real and all that other stuff you see out the window of the airliners is fake.

Merry Christmas all.

Well, it's your choice to pay for fake charts!!! I'll continue to get real charts for free!

I dont understand why you are getting upset? I didnt try to persuade you to get the Aivlasoft, I was just saying what I know having owned the product. I do like the product I find it quite useful. Would I but it again? Probably not, not for $70 anyway.

I would be a lot happier if I found a good program to use to get it on to an Ipad. I understand Air Display has an fps impact?
