February 4, 201313 yr Commercial Member Hmmm, I get a warning that the site has something suspicious on it. Don't think I want any part of that site or that product.
February 4, 201313 yr perhaps you need a better antivirus program? and who cares if you want any part of it, as long as INTEL (you might have heard about them?) wants that product. "Head over to the Intel® stand, #1212 at the GDC 2010 Expo to see Simul’s new tools and technology for dynamic skies and volumetric weather effects. Intel have kindly hosted Simul on their stand today, which features a selection of the best high-performance software for games, running on the latest multi-core Intel processors. We’re part of a big seven-page advertorial by Intel in this month’s Develop magazine. For more information on Simul Weather – go here." http://www.simul.co.uk
February 4, 201313 yr We’re part of a big seven-page advertorial by Intel in this month’s Develop magazine. For more information on Simul Weather From the wording in your post, I take it you have a commercial interest in this product? If so you need to identify yourself as a commercial member per AVSIM rules. Thanks Tom My Youtube Videos! http://www.youtube.com/user/tf51d
February 4, 201313 yr Commercial Member perhaps you need a better antivirus program? and who cares if you want any part of it, as long as INTEL (you might have heard about them?) wants that product. That's great! I wish Intel the best in their future explorations of Simul Clouds! Intel have kindly hosted Simul on their stand today, which features a selection of the best high-performance software for games, running on the latest multi-core Intel processors. I would love to! We’re part of a big seven-page advertorial by Intel in this month’s Develop magazine. For more information on Simul Weather – go here." http://www.simul.co.uk I'll have to pick that magazine up and have a good read of it! Just an FYI... Except for the advertorial and Intel links, none of the SimulClouds links are allowed past my Internet Security Software. In case you didn't realize, Bitdefender (You may have heard of them) has been rated the number 1 security program for computers for the past several years.
February 4, 201313 yr thanks for your kind -lesson- shall we say. "I take it you have a commercial interest in this product" unfortunately not, but I wish I did. if you read my post carefully, you'll see I was quoting an article. the only interest I have in that product is a flightsimulator with such outstanding weather features, and I take it from this thread,I am not the only one. your nr.1 Bitdefender is known for problems, but you can read that up elsewhere, it doesn't belong in a weather thread: http://technicallyea...n-is-untrusted/
February 4, 201313 yr Commercial Member your nr.1 Bitdefender is known for problems, but you can read that up elsewhere, it doesn't belong in a weather thread: http://technicallyea...n-is-untrusted/ I followed the instructions on the link you provided and still no change. It's still blocked. (Thankfully I have a top of the line Internet Security software!) Very concerning that a commercial product would throw up a warning like that. Thanks for the link, though. Anyway, I'll be eagerly anticipating that 7 page advertorial. Thanks for posting that video and link in 2 separate X-Plane threads!

February 4, 201313 yr Author your nr.1 Bitdefender is known for problems, but you can read that up elsewhere, it doesn't belong in a weather thread: More specifically, it's an X-Plane weather feature (i.e., its clouds) thread, in which an advertisement for weather middleware that's not currently being used in X-Plane doesn't belong either. "No matter how eloquent you are or how solidly and firm you've built your case, you will never win in an argument with an idiot, for he is too stupid to recognize his own defeat." ~Anonymous.
February 4, 201313 yr relax. 1) if it was already used in xplane, I wouldn't need to point out to some advanced new weather technology that could be implemented in xplane that was not mentioned here before. 2) it is not advertising, as you can not buy and include it in xplane. the video is a technology demonstration, just like talk about new and upcoming CPU's, operating systems etc. 3) the most advanced weather and cloud SDK does not belong in a "cloud rendering" thread. ok, got it.
February 7, 201313 yr I think Simulweather is what is used in Take On Helicopters for their clouds, which in my opinion is the best depiction of clouds in a sim. When I read that XPX was implementing volumetric clouds I was hoping for something like this, unfortunately it's not that close. The only problem with Simulweather is that, when you pan your view, the clouds seem to speed up quite a bit near the edges of the screen.
February 10, 201313 yr apart from the cloud discussion here...i immediately noticed something between x-plane and fsx that basically sums it all up. 1. have a look at the difference in the runway detail between the two. Anyone who says xplane is better in this area is not only completely blind, they are on drugs! 2. take a peek at the blue sky. In xplane it is always displaying a greyish blue haze! Again, if you reckon thats better than fsx (where it is much more realistic clear blue), again you're on drugs!!! I would dump fsx and prepar3d in a second if only Austin would fix these unbelievably obvious display shortfalls. There is no way they are even close to realistic!!! How can something so bloody obvious go on for this long without being addressed!!! its a real shame! just my 20 cents worth

Or you can get some replacement textures and install them yourself. A quick Google search pulled up these runway textures: http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=16270 And some sky textures: http://maxx-xp.hiking-pa.com/?page_id=205 You're welcome.
February 10, 201313 yr Commercial Member Flight should have been FS11... Imagine how that version of FS would have been? smh What a shame ACES was shutdown. Absolutely. I think FLIGHT was a chance for them to see what the market looks like. The answer is they need to blow FSX away on all fronts or not bother. Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com
